Job Description Summary
Reporting to the Digital Projects Manager, the Digital Projects Coordinator will assist with all of the interrelated digital projects at the Kelly Writers House, including editorial support for multiple digital literary projects; AV production, editing, presentation, and archiving; support for online courses and reading groups; and digital asset collection development and maintenance. The Digital Projects Coordinator will work collaboratively on several major KWH digital projects, including ModPo (a massive open online course), Jacket2 (an online magazine), and PennSound, and will also support the in-person technical and AV work of the Kelly Writers House, assisting with web sites, databases, and recordings produced by and for the KWH, including in the main events space and in the Wexler Studio.

The Writers House is an evening presentation space, so some evening work will be required, typically one or two evenings per week. Your schedule on other days would be 10am-6pm.

The Kelly Writers House is a community-focused center for writers from Penn, the Philadelphia region, and beyond. Each year we host over 125 public events, in addition to a robust schedule of readings, interviews, and podcasts produced in our Wexler Studio. We support several interrelated digital projects, including ModPo, an open online course about modern and contemporary poetry that enrolls tens of thousands of students, PennSound, a vast digital archive of poets reading their own work, and Jacket2, a magazine of poetry and poetics. In all, Kelly Writers House has been home to thousands of readers, writers, and visitors. All of our programs are free, and most are open to the public and available for streaming online. Job Responsibilities
  • Manage content pipelines for Jacket2 (an academic journal) and PennSound (an archive of recorded poetry), to include: managing correspondence with contributors; soliciting and assessing book reviews by scholars and poets; proposing topics in contemporary poetry for ongoing critical commentary; assessing content (including KWH programming, queries, and archives) for inclusion in PennSound and Jacket2; and writing or assigning headnotes, bios, textual notes, and other critical content.
  • Assist with production (recording and editing) of KWH events, webcasts, podcasts, and other recordings, to include training and supervision of students and part-time staff.
  • Supervise student editorial teams (including graduate students) to receive, edit, process, and upload content for online platforms.
  • Provide support for the online academic course ModPo (and all of its related forums, databases, and web sites) including the development of supplemental course materials from material in Jacket2, PennSound, and other KWH assets.
  • Copyedit various KWH publications, including annual reports, development materials, and websites (including Jacket2).
  • Assist with digital asset maintenance and archiving for multiple projects, including ModPo, Jacket2, PennSound, KWH events and programs, the Wexler Studio, and other KWH web sites and databases.
  • Assist with the operational needs of Wexler studio, including scheduling, engineering, inventory, and staffing.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and 2 to 3 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, are required.
  • Strong writing and communication skills, and experience in copyediting and proofreading required. Developmental editing experience preferred.
  • Experience or familiarity with DAWs (Adobe Audition, ProTools) and non-linear video editors (Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro) as well as graphic and design software (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign) strongly preferred.
  • Facility with databases, spreadsheets, and related organizational tools required.
  • Experience working with web development and publishing tools strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and/or interest in contemporary poetry, with strong preference for college or graduate level coursework in poetry and/or poetics is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working collaboratively on complex projects and supervising undergraduates is also preferred.
