Job description
The post holder will be responsible for a broad range of activities supporting the delivery of a portfolio of projects within the Education Office which support the College’s strategies to enhance education and the wider student experience. The post holder will work closely with the Education Projects Manager, the Director of the Education Office and Head of Strategic Projects, as well as a range of staff and students from across the College.
This position requires excellent organisational skills, with the ability to plan and prioritise a busy workload effectively in order to meet given objectives, adjusting priorities as necessary in response to changing circumstances or problems and demonstrating a flexible approach. The post holder will be responsible for organising and carrying out a variety of tasks and duties in order to meet required time and quality standards. Working independently, they will be expected to resolve the majority of issues and may only report progress and results.
The post holder will be expected to develop positive working relationships with a broad range of individuals and work effectively across teams and will need strong written and oral communication skills.
The post-holder will be expected to have experience of working in higher education, with an interest in learning, teaching and the student experience and will, ideally, have experience of working in a project support role.
Duties and responsibilities
- You will be providing support for a range of projects, initiatives and working groups across the Education Office, including monitoring progress against plans, preparing reports and presentations, supporting working groups and analysing data.
- You will be managing the implementation of communication plans for internal and external audiences, ensuring effective communication of strategy implementation and working collaboratively with colleagues.
- You will be monitoring expenditure against budgets, producing regular reports of spend against budgets, raising purchase orders and administering expenses.
- You will be organising and supporting meetings and events, booking rooms, preparing committee papers (including regular project and programme reports), taking minutes, completing and monitoring follow-up actions.
Essential requirements
- Educated to degree level or equivalent
- Administrative work experience in higher education, with an interest in learning, teaching and the student experience
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a busy workload, adjusting priorities as necessary in response to changing circumstances or problems in order to ensure that deadlines are met
- Able to work independently, managing workload with minimal supervision, resolving the majority of issues and exercising judgement in deciding when to refer issues/problems upwards
- Able to adopt a flexible approach by adapting to the changing needs of the role and the needs of the team
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and effectively
- Numerate, with the ability to understand, monitor and explain expenditure and budget , as well as other numerical information
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain good working relationships with a wide range of people at all levels of seniority
- Ability to work flexibly as part of a team, readily supporting colleagues in times of high pressure
- Excellent IT skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

The College is currently trialling a Work Location Framework until early 2023. Hybrid working may be considered for this role and the role holder may be expected to work 60% or more of their time onsite, with 40% the minimum time spent onsite. The opportunity for hybrid working will be discussed at interview.
