Project Coordinator – Inside IR35
Contract Term: 6 Months
Contracting Authority: DCMS
Location: Hybrid – Remote & 1/2 days p/w in London, Manchester or Darlington.
Working in the Future Networks Programmes (FNP) Team, you will be directly supporting the planning and implementing of research and innovation projects in digital infrastructure. These include the £250 million Open Networks Research and Development Fund; and £40 million to establish 5G Innovation Regions across the UK, to encourage 5G take-up in the public sector and industry. You’ll work in a friendly, multidisciplinary team (project delivery profession; finance, commercial and technical (telecoms) specialists; subsidy control). We work closely with policy colleagues and a variety of external organisations.
As a Project Coordinator your main responsibilities will be:
· Oversight of a small portfolio of projects, at any stage of the ‘lifecycle’.
· Ensuring that project aims, scope, time, costs and intended benefits are clearly defined in grant funding agreements, and completion of our due diligence as project sponsor.
· Monitoring & supporting delivery, as sponsor, assessing and reporting on status.
· Analysing a range of information sources - identifying & tackling risks, problems and changes – escalating accordingly.
· Capturing & verifying the scope and benefits achieved, reports for dissemination and other final business.
· Providing information and advice to stakeholders and government decision-makers.
· Engaging extensively with project stakeholders and government colleagues.
· Producing a range of written communications and maintain project documentation – e.g. stakeholder correspondence; status reports; advice for decision-makers; meeting actions; briefings.
Essential Skills:
· Demonstrable Project Coordination experience - including project set-up, status monitoring & risk management.
· Strong stakeholder management experience, including experience of working successfully with suppliers, representatives from business teams & delivery.
· Strong self-starter
· Expert communication skills
· Experience of implementation of large grant programmes, publicly-funded projects or collaborative research and innovation – desirable.
· Relevant subject knowledge, for example: digital infrastructure or research and innovation policy or programmes; the telecommunications industry – desirable.
