Project Controller (Team Lead – Irradiated Fuel Management Team) - Submarines

A unique Project Controller opportunity has become available with Rolls-Royce Submarines business in Derby working on a high-profile, high value, long-term and demanding programme of work. Our Submarines business is responsible for the design, manufacture, supply and through-life support of nuclear propulsion-related products and systems in support of the Royal Navy’s submarine fleet.

You will utilise your strong engineering and Project Management background and will lead a small Project Engineering team. Based in Derby, in this varied and unique position there will be an opportunity to travel and visit suppliers in Risley and Westlakes Science Park near Sellafield once or twice a month.
You will be part of the Irradiated Fuel Management (IFM) programme in the Services Delivery Business Unit (DBU), tasked with delivering all the necessary outputs that will ensure fleet operations are not disrupted.

What you will be doing:
You will be leading work packages and manage projects to schedule, specification and cost in line with commitments to the business and customer.
- Supporting the technical, project and programme management teams with schedules, metrics and project reports, as required to allow control of the project to be maintained.
- Launching work and implementing Programme Change Controls to manage DBU and supplier baseline commitments with respect to schedule, cost and scope.
- Assisting management of supplier delivery, including management of deliverables and invoice processing.
- Supporting the project, campaign, commercial and purchasing interfaces within all internal stakeholders and managing project interfaces between Rolls-Royce and the supplier.

The Project Controller ideally will have experience as a Project Manager or Project Engineer and be able to demonstrate leadership experience or capabilities. Experience working in complex Engineering environments with high value programmes of work such as Nuclear, Aerospace, Oil and Gas, Petrochemical, Rail or similar sectors would be beneficial.
- Project Manager or Project Engineer experience working on high value complex programmes of work
- Engineering or Technical background with the ability to learn the technical details of the programme to assist in problem solving and support good project management.
- Customers and Supplier facing experience, dealing with stakeholders at all levels
- Presentation skills
- Degree or equivalent Continuous Professional Development.

To work for the Rolls-Royce Submarines Business an individual has to hold a minimum of an Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if the individual does not currently already have this in place.
Due to the nature of work the Business conducts and the protection of certain assets a person has to be a UK national or in MoD approved cases a Dual National from a non ITAR country.
