Coventry’s Early Help Service is led through eight Family Hubs which are located across the city. The Family Hubs provide services for children, young people and families, and work in partnership with the Social Work Teams and with partner agencies to ensure that children and families are in receipt of the right help at the right time.

Early Help is the identification and response to emerging needs within children and their families, focusing on building resilience as well as providing help at a time when evidence indicates that support can have the most impact. Coventry continues to invest in the Early Help Service and remains proud of the work undertaken by the Family Hubs and its Partners.

What is the job role?

Coventry City Council’s Family Hub and Start For life Programme team are a dynamic and agile team who are transforming, enabling and extending the family hub offer to all families with children aged 0-19 (and upto 24 for children with SEN0 to ensure that there is the right help at the right time in our buildings, in the community and through virtual access.

Coventry City Council Family Hub Offer was successful in achieving national funding and trailblazer status for our Family hubs and is now transforming and enhancing its Family Hub offer in line with the national Family Hub and Start for life offer.

This is part of our commitment and ambitions of Child Friendly Cov which aims to make Coventry the best place for families to live, grow up and work in.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the team and to assist the programme manager and project staff to ensure Coventry residents receive high quality and personalised support, and to meet the national expectations of this programme. We are seeking to appoint a Project Support Officer to join a fast paced, dynamic team whose role it is to support the Family Hub Programme Manager in the delivery of the Family Hub and Strat for Life projects and priorities and the implementation of plans and strategies across the Family Hub offer.

This role is for a fixed term contract to until March 2025, to cover the funded project.

You will :

  • Work closely with the Family Hub Programme Manager and the Project Lead for Start for Life offer, on the planning and preparation of reports, briefings and comms both internally and externally
  • Support with work on Strategic Plans, and provide project support to the Family Hub Programme board, supporting workstreams, monitoring progress and generating reports.
  • Provide strategic support to the Family Hub Programme Manager and the Project Lead including attendance at meetings/Boards taking minutes/actions responding to enquiries from, MPS’s elected members, writing reports and presentations, working closely with key stakeholders and partners to deliver outstanding results and realise the opportunities these changes offer.
  • Be responsible for supporting on innovation funded projects and submission of bids
  • You will lead on the planning and co-ordination of Family Hub partnership events with other team members .

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Who are we looking for?

The right candidate will possess the following:

  • Understanding of good practice of safe-guarding practises and the importance of ensuring equal opportunities and promoting diversity.
  • Basic awareness of core responsibilities involved in providing a safe, nurturing and educational environment for children and their families.
  • Ability to analyze financial and numerical data, performance information, and written information to draw accurate conclusions
  • Ability to plan and prepare a communication strategy and marketing materials to reach an external audience and capture all interested parties.
  • Ability to work across multiagency teams and organisations to achieve corporate objectives and promote partnership working with other key stakeholders

Previous experience of liaising with a wide range of individuals such as government departments, public sector professionals, commercial partners, voluntary and community sector and customers.

Experience working directly within or supporting those working directly within a customer-facing, frontline service delivery environment.
