Project Assistant

Salary – £30-33K DOE
Our client Forester Friendly Society is a long-established financial service company based in Southampton, Hampshire and have been providing their members with financial products for over 185 years. They are a mutual society, therefore all their profits are distributed between members through policyholders’ bonuses rather than going to shareholders.
Our Client Foresters Friendly Society are seeking an organised Project Assistant to join their busy team. The successful candidate’s role will be to assist the Society’s Change Manager and IT Manager in the delivery of operational and strategic initiatives as part of the business’ digital transformation.
Project Assistant, the role:
- Serve as Society’s Project Support function, assisting in the management of project delivery from inception to benefits realisation
- Identify, gather, and analyse stakeholder requirements
- Conduct GAP analysis
- Assist and at times lead the modelling and analysis of ‘as-is’ processes, propose, and where approved, assist or lead the implementation of ‘to-be’ processes
- Develop and present project status reporting to stakeholders
- Develop and maintain stakeholder analysis and personas
- Assist and at times lead in the gathering and engineering of solution requirements
- Produce and maintain project registers and logs, such as risk, issue, and quality registers
- Assist and at times lead the production of project test approaches and test delivery
- Assist and at times lead in the production of project reports, such as issue, lesson, sprint, and project closure reports
- Undertake other reasonable duties at the request of the Change Manager and IT Manager
Project Assistant, the person:
- Previous experience in a project support role
- Gathering and engineering of solutions requirements, and the development and maintenance of Business Requirements Documents
- Production and maintenance of project documentation, such as approaches, registers & logs, and plans is essential
- Process modelling and design, ideally with at least an elementary understanding of BPMN, and tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, or Draw.io
- Microsoft SQL server and T-SQL knowledge and experience is desirable but not essential
- A foundational understanding of Waterfall and Agile software delivery approaches is essential
- Previous experience of working on Agile (ideally Scrum) or PRINCE2 projects is essential
- Proficient in standard Microsoft Office applications
- Proficiency in, or awareness of Agile project tools such as Jira, Trello, or Azure Dev Ops Boards is preferred but not essential
- Previous experience in a Financial Services or other regulated business is preferred but not essential
