Job description

Working with the Principle Investigators, Dr Katrina Dean (Cambridge University Library) and Dr Shailendra Vyakarnam, and an Advisory Group consisting of members of the Cambridge innovation community, researchers, archivists and curators, we are seeking a Project Archivist to carry out research and undertake an archive survey of Cambridge technology innovation archives, document the findings including the results of archive appraisals and produce a scoping study recommending collection development and resource implications.

We are seeking candidates with experience of research using contemporary archives, and experience working in an archive or research environment, advanced research and analytical skills, excellent communications skills, and an interest in or knowledge of post-War and contemporary science, technology, and innovation.

Ideally, you may also have experience of undertaking an archive survey or familiarity with archive survey methods, curating contemporary archives and familiarity with archive cataloguing standards. You will have an undergraduate degree and may possess a postgraduate degree in a relevant field for example archives and records management, history of science, science and technology studies or business and innovation studies.

This role is for 1 year in the first instance supported by a Higher Education Innovation Fund grant.
