This is an exciting opportunity for the right person to make a real contribution to Southampton City Council and to support the achievement of the council outcomes for the city.

We are looking for a confident and experienced Programme Manager to undertake a leadership role in our Projects and Change team. The successful candidate will be responsible for successful delivery of a range of programme across different service areas and will need to be confident managing a team to deliver a number of projects with competing deadlines.

You will take ownership and be leading a wider project team, astute to the political nature of the public sector. Well-developed analytical skills and evidence of positive people management, including the ability to coach others, is key for this role, as well as the ability to build relationships with and manage senior stakeholders.

You will have experience of successfully managing programme budgets in excess of £1m, with a clear focus on programme level governance and reporting. Evidence of achieving cultural and behavioural change to improve the experience or outcomes for the customer is also vital for this role.

With evidence of a strong commercial focus and a breadth of experience, we also look to our Programme Managers to actively drive project and change management capability within the council.
