Opportunity Overview
An opportunity has arisen to join research activities in our expanding Smart Urban Futures (SURF) research group, in the area of Nature Based Solution and Urban Green Infrastructure. As part of the IGNITION project, we are looking to appoint a part-time research assistance on a fixed-term basis for 2 years. The project is related to the well-established Living Lab, a NBS green infrastructure project.
You must have a background (preferably MSc) in a relevant field (Architecture Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Built Environment, etc). You should also have good events management, communication, interpersonal and IT skills. You are expected to have a good ability to organise and manage your own time and work to tight deadlines.
The post-holder will undertake a pre-defined programme of work comprising a range of duties, primarily including desk-based research activities and management of research and collaboration events-related to the IGNITION. Additionally, the successful candidate will be expected to undertake research support for other projects being undertaken by Professor Hisham Elkadi in similar topic areas.
Key Responsibilities
- To undertake defined administrative tasks to support the successful implementation of the project.
- To ensure that progress on project development is monitored, including liaison with project deliverers, commercial clients and/or funding organisations so that deviations
- from project plans or other potential problems can be highlighted and addressed as early as possible
- To manage and coordinate activities related to IGNITION Living Lab, including visits, meetings, and collaboration with the public and other institutions.
- To liaise closely and effectively with the research team to support the overall project to achieve its objectives.
- To undertake efficient organisation, facilitation and execution of different kinds of meetings and events (in both online and offline settings).
