Job description
White Rose Forest Landowner Engagement Project Officer
Home based working across North and West Yorkshire
Project Officer Salary £33,820 - £36,298
Fixed term contract for 36 hrs per week to March 2025 (very likely be extended)
Would you like to work for the White Rose Forest, the community forest for North and West Yorkshire and a partnership that is making a real difference for the natural environment, communities and efforts to adapt to the impact of climate change here in Yorkshire?
The White Rose Forest team would like to recruit a project officer to support the White Rose Forest (WRF) Landscapes for Water tree planting programme and help landowners and WRF partners identify, plan, design, fund and deliver a programme of new high-quality woodlands in our target river catchments in North and West Yorkshire, namely the Aire and SUNO Catchments.
You will be working as part of a community forest partnership of committed woodland creation specialists. You will demonstrate attention to detail, a track record of delivery and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including landowners, local authorities, charities and community groups.
Recognised technical expertise and experience in forestry and land management would be beneficial for these roles, as well as some knowledge of the regulatory environment that impacts woodland creation plans.
As a project officer you will be expected to deliver a varied and complex programme of woodland creation schemes.
This new full time 18-month fixed term post offers a high value career development opportunity with one of the country’s leading community forest partnerships.
In return you will be joining an experienced and enthusiastic team who are passionate about the future of our trees and natural environment here in Yorkshire. You will primarily be working from home with your own transport required across North and West Yorkshire as part of these roles. Team members are spread out across the region with regular team meetings held at various partnership offices.
The generous benefits package includes 25 days holiday per year plus bank holidays, an 8% matched contributory pension scheme and flexible working policy.
The Community Forest Trust is recruiting for these roles on behalf of Kirklees Council, the accountable body for the White Rose Forest partnership. Kirklees Council has the primary responsibility to identify, secure and manage strategic levels of funding for the White Rose Forest and provide the managerial structures and accounting support to create and deliver regional programmes of urban tree and woodland creation.
