JOB SUMMARY

Background to NCS ‘Open to All’ Community Experiences
Through a Grant from NCS Trust, Groundwork South will be providing young people (aged 16-17 Years old) with year-round activities. These will be close to home and provide choice and flexibility to engage with up to 3 x 16-Hour Community Experiences. Each experience is designed to be fun and engaging and provide a breadth of learning and development opportunities. One of our key priorities is to increase the provision of our offer to underserved young people and learn more about what works for these groups.

Our Community Experiences aligns with the four key objectives:

  • developing life skills and supporting independent living;
  • building employability and work-readiness;
  • providing opportunities for volunteering and social action; and
  • enabling social mixing of young people from all backgrounds.

Programme Dates
The is a two-year funded programme that runs year-round from Augsust 2023 to March 2025. Each NCS
Community Experience requires 3 x 16 hours of delivery.

Terms of Service
As the NCS Project Officer, you will be required to work the entire duration of one or more of the 16

Hour Community Experiences, work evening and weekends to support the delivery of NCS. The locations for NCS delivery will be either at Groundwork South offices or another venue, Travel flexibility is essential.

Training
As part of your work on one or more of the NCS ‘Open to All’ Community Experiences, you will be required to complete a number of training sessions with Groundwork South.

MAIN DUTIES
As the NCS Project Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the smooth running of each
Community Experience. You will lead and inspire cohorts of young people aged 16 to 17. You will be responsible for delivering curriculum sessions, coordinating programmes, meeting reporting and compliance measures, safeguarding, and pastoral care of young people.

This is a fulfilling and challenging role where you will make a real impact on the lives of young people. As part of this role, you will need prior experience of working with young people and programme coordination and delivery. Whilst on the programme you will support and work closely with existing
Groundwork provision, with staff in schools, colleges, and other local youth provision. The Youth
Development Manager and the Compliance Officer will support you. This is a rewarding and demanding role, suitable for those with an enthusiasm for youth work, delivering impactful programmes and providing pastoral support for young people.

  • You will proactively assist in coordinating and delivering all programme logistics and compliance with NCS ‘Open to All’ Community Experiences.
  • You will be responsible for the safeguarding, behaviour management and pastoral care of a group of young people.
  • You will report to the Compliance Officer to ensure that core Groundwork South staff are regularly updated on the status of your programme.
  • You will deliver curriculum sessions in line with the NCS ‘Open to All’ Community Experiences, including guided reflection with young people.
  • You will lead on new and existing projects, fostering positive relationships with community partners and charities to deliver meaningful programmes and community experiences.
  • You will actively support your team of young people to plan and deliver their social action project.
  • You will follow all policies and procedures as laid out by Groundwork South specifically regarding safeguarding, health and safety, risk assessment, GDPR and incident reporting

  • Formalise partnerships and builds strong links with stakeholders.
  • Attend and represent the Trust at relevant meetings, steering groups, forums and conferences, including attending out of office hours when necessary

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Salary £11.28 per hour (FTE £21,000 - £22,000)

Hours of work Groundwork makes no promise or guarantee of a minimum level of work to you
and you will work on a flexible, "as required" basis.

Place of work Your normal place of work will be home based. You may be required to travel on Groundwork’s business to carry out your duties at other locations as may be required for the proper performance of your duties.

Holidays Your holiday entitlement will depend on the number of hours that you actually work and be pro-rated on the basis of a full-time entitlement of 28 days' holiday during each full holiday year (including the usual public holidays in England and
Wales). Holiday will be allocated in hours.

Pension Groundwork will comply with the employer pension duties in respect of the worker in accordance with Part 1 of the Pensions Act 2008 in relation to the
Groundwork Pension Scheme, or such other registered pension scheme as has been set up by Groundwork. Participation in such schemes is subject to satisfying certain eligibility criteria and the rules of such scheme as amended from time to time.
