Job Duties

Performs day-to-day program oversight in a district or as part of a statewide program. Characteristic duties include conducting studies and research, technical training and programmatic assistance, program evaluation, policy development and analysis, and
coordination of resources. Monitors grant applications and disbursements to assure
sufficient funds are available to support program commitments. Responsibilities are carried out independently based on an outline or work plan developed by or approved by the supervisor. Thorough knowledge of program policies, procedures, service delivery methods and clear communication skills are necessary.

Serves as a Virginia Vaccines Quality Assurance (VVQA) consultant for an assigned region of the state; conducts quality assurance visits of providers, including compliance, immunization rate assessment, educational, enrollment, unannounced storage & handling, and follow-up (including storage check only) visits as needed; examines vaccine storage; performs chart review; reviews and recommends approval, denial, or revisions to VVFC provider's Routine Vaccine Management plan; serves as a resource of information on immunizations and the VVFC program; notifies provider of impending site visit by phone and in writing; generates site visit information packets; documents findings on patient documentation, vaccine management, program compliance and necessary corrective actions; follows up with providers after visits as situation warrants (i.e., temperature problems, vaccine returns, etc.) in an effort to reduce the number of providers with storage and handling problems; presents to various groups including hospitals, physician offices, and vaccine manufacturers as necessary to educate and promote the VVFC program; provides courteous and expedient customer service; and notifies supervisor of any site suspected of fraud and abuse. Visits providers enrolled in the Virginia Vaccines
for Adults (VVFA) program. Conducts quality assurance visits of providers, including compliance, educational, enrollment, unannounced storage & handling, and follow-up (including storage check only) visits as needed; examines vaccine storage; serves as a resource of information on immunizations and the VVFA program; notifies provider of impending site visit by phone and in writing; vaccine management, program compliance and necessary corrective actions; follows up with providers after visits in an effort to reduce the number of providers with storage and handling problems.

Minimum Qualifications

1) Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with information and security
policies. Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve problems.
2) Ability to work independently at various hours in a wide variety of settings including clinical
and field.
3) Ability to work as part of a team, respond to inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
4) interpret and apply policies and procedures; and prepare reports and correspondence.
5) Knowledge of and/or experience in public health practices, motivational and investigative
techniques, disease reporting regulations, surveillance, and quality assurance for
communicable diseases.
6) Effective oral and written communication, organizational, time management analytical,
interpersonal, and decision making skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

7) Graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work
in a related field is preferred.
8) Public health experience and grant writing skills.
9) Familiar with PEAR, REDcap, VTrckS and VIIS.
