Job Summary
Reporting to the Associate Director of Events and Summer Programs, the Coordinator will assist the team with responsibilities of coordination, promotion, and executing of major academic year events including Commencement, Family Weekend, and Honors Day. While under the supervision of the Associate Director of Events and Summer Programs, the Events and Summer Programs Coordinator will work directly with the faculty in the responsibility of planning academic symposia, as well as campus-wide lectures and concerts.
Additionally, the Coordinator with work with the Executive Director of Events and Summer Programs to coordinate revenue-generating programs of the Office, which focus primarily on non-academic events such as sports camps, single-day meetings, multi-day conferences, memorials, weddings, receptions, and dinners by community organizations and professional associations. This work includes event budget preparation and analysis; summer student staff hiring, training, and supervision; program planning, registration, logistics, implementation and billing of year-round on-and off-campus events and programs.
The Coordinator will assist the Associate Director for OneCard with printing OneCards and answering general OneCard questions, as needed.
Workload responsibilities will vary at points during the calendar year and will approximately break down as:
- Academic Year: 75% college events, 25% summer/external events.
- Summer: 90% summer/external events, 10% college events.
The expected hourly rate for this role is $20.00 – $25.00 per hour.
Education/Skills Requirements
Required:
- The successful candidate will possess strong organizational and customer service skills
- The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and work well under pressure.
- Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must.
- Demonstrated computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the wiliness to learn other software as needed.
Strongly preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree.
Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents
- Prior customer service experience.
- A minimum of one year of event planning experience is preferred.
Standard Work Days and Hours
- 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday with occasional evening and/or weekend hours to staff events.
- Peak period runs May through August and will require regular evening and weekend availability.
