Job Summary
The Department of Physics in the College of Science, the University of Texas at Arlington, invites applications at the assistant professor level to begin in the Fall of 2023. Exceptional candidates at higher ranks will also be considered.

We seek individuals who demonstrate exceptional potential for or evidence of leading a high-impact, world-class funded research program training PhD, MS, and BS students. All candidates must have strong aptitude for effective teaching in core and specialized areas of our curriculum at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Faculty responsibilities include developing and maintaining an internationally recognized research program, effective classroom teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and service to the local and international professional communities.

We welcome candidates who can be world-class leaders in strategic growth areas with an emphasis on, but not limited to, instrumentation in high energy and nuclear particle physics including CMOS sensor and ASIC development and deep cryogenic quantum sensor readout.

Department and College/School Information
The Physics Department is comprehensive and provides students a wide choice of research topics from the major areas of current physics research, including internationally recognized research in nanomaterials, particle physics, astrophysics, and space physics. The College of Science offers world-class educational and research opportunities with small class sizes and outstanding faculty mentorship.

Arlington is a city of nearly 400,000 and is conveniently located in the center of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Within a 25-mile radius of the center of Arlington is a workforce of over two million people. The city has 82 public parks, including River Legacy Parks, a 1,300-acre oasis on the Trinity River in the heart of north Arlington. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate must meet all expectations of a tenure-track faculty candidate: establish an independent and externally funded research program in space physics, provide research and mentoring opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students, and teach physics courses at the undergraduate and graduate level.

Required Qualifications
Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent in high energy, nuclear, particle physics or a closely related field, and significant postdoctoral experience is desired. The candidates must demonstrate their commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and service. The key objective is to hire a faculty member with outstanding qualifications that shares the University’s core values of high standards of excellence in teaching. In addition, the qualified candidate displays innovative and collaborative research, and service combined.

Preferred Qualifications
Excellence in instrumentation in the areas of high energy and nuclear particle physics is one of the core aspects of UTA’s physics department and qualified candidates should have a demonstrated track record of innovation and world class research in this (or closely related) area.
