Tenure-Track Position, Assistant/Associate Professor, School of Business
The School of Businessin the Faculty of Education and Professional Studiesat Nipissing Universityinvites applications from candidates for a Tenure-Track faculty position in Accounting at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, effective August 1, 2023 or January 1, 2024. This position is located in North Bay, ON.
The School of Business offers a wide array of undergraduate certificates, diploma, and degree programs (B. Comm, BBA) and Post Baccalaureate Diplomas in Business, in both on campus and distance delivery modes. The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in Accounting and Finance, as well as contributing to curriculum development in these areas. Additionally, the candidate will engage in research activities, producing high-quality research within the field. The candidate will also actively participate in service activities within the Accounting stream, the School of Business, the Faculty, and the University.
The successful candidate for this position should possess the following qualifications:
1. Completion or near completion (ABD) or a Ph.D. in a related discipline.
2. A minimum of one (1) graduate degree in Accounting or Business.
3. A professional designation in accounting, preferably the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or an equivalent qualification.
4. Relevant practical professional experience in accounting is strongly preferred.
Candidates with a PhD in Accounting or related field, or all-but-dissertation (ABD) and are very close to completion of their PhD, will be given preference.
In addition, the ideal candidate would also:
- have a successful teaching record at the post-secondary level as evidenced by experience with course and curriculum review and/or development if any, sample syllabi, strong teaching evaluations, and other relevant achievements in teaching,
- be prepared to teach courses in Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Auditing, and Taxation with the ability to teach Finance courses as an added advantage,
- be prepared to teach our accounting offerings both on campus and online,
- demonstrate a strong capacity or potential for research as evidenced by, but not limited to, peer-reviewed publications, working papers, presentations at academic conferences, and/or other research activities, and
- demonstrate an ability and willingness to contribute to the activities of the Accounting stream, the School of Business, the Faculty, and the University through collegial service.
The annual salary will correspond with qualifications and experience and will follow the Nipissing University Faculty Association (NUFA) Collective Agreement. The appointment will be effective August 1, 2023, or January 1, 2024. The appointment is subject to final budget approval.
