Job description
The Camp Attendant/General Helper is responsible for ensuring the living area of the camp is clean and sanitary. They will consistently provide positive service and assistance with all camp employees and guests while making sure to follow all policies and guidelines as set out by Health and Safety Guidelines. The Camp Attendant/General Helper actively participates in the daily operation of the camp catering unit.
Housekeeping Description
- Keep the camp in a clean and sanitary manner (sleeping quarters, hallways, washrooms, entrance ways , rec room/gym etc.).
- Daily walkdowns to confirm occupancy for camp office
- Vacuum and sweep daily.
- Empty garbage cans in all rooms daily
- Wash all Linens, Towels etc. as required in the a.m. leave machines free for the crews to do their laundry.
- Clean lint screens in the dryer after every load.
- Make beds daily and change linen weekly and/or required.
- Assist other departments as requested
- Attend and Participate in Toolbox and Weekly Safety Meetings
- Fill out required Safety Documentation
- Work effectively with a team or Independently
- Camp Attendant’s duties are not limited to the job description as each client may have different requirements.
General Helper Description
- · The basic preparation of food and beverages including the preparation of vegetables and snacks.
- · Simple cooking including the reconstitution of prepared food.
- · General kitchen and dining room duties including washing up, setting up and clearing away equipment and tables, cleaning of the kitchen and dining room surrounds and, equipment to include all work surfaces, dining furniture, floors and walls.
- Sweep and scrub floors.
- Remove garbage.
- Clean kitchen equipment.
- Scrape food from plates and wash food trays.
- Wash dishes as required.
- Clean flatware, and wash pots and pans.
- Assist in receiving and storing supplies.
- Stock cupboards, refrigerators and salad bars.
- Assist in basic food preparation.
- Prepare ingredients (for example, wash and slice vegetables).
- Package take-out foods.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Chef.
Preferred qualifications
- Food Safe Certification.
- Experience working in a kitchen setting.
- Experience working a rotational schedule in a remote camp environment.
- Excellent communication skills
- Previous experience cleaning in camps is considered an asset.
- Excellent attention to detail with an ability to work independently and in a team environment.
