Band 2 Decontamination Technician / Driver 37.5 hours per week
A vacancy has become available for a dedicated person to join the Decontamination team in Sterile Services at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle.
Candidate will undertake the delivery and uplift of decontaminated and contaminated surgical instruments and flexible endoscopes between the Cumberland Infirmary and West Cumberland Hospital sites. Candidates will undertake training to enable understanding and safe practices whilst carrying contamination equipment and radiation between sites
They will also take part in the decontamination process of those instruments.
To communicate with enquiries from users, and other members of healthcare staff in a polite and helpful manner, seeking advice where required.
Candidates will undertake training to enable them to drive a vehicle under orange plates and the Radiation triangle.
Distribute clean instruments and also collect soiled instruments from clinical areas in WCH, this will include the pickup of non-acute work from loading bay at WCH or collect from customer premises.
To reprocess reusable medical devices and flexible endoscopes with their appropriate processes in accordance with Manufacturers processing instructions.
Under limited supervision meet the demands of the Department’s workload whilst consistently achieving high quality standards which will be measured by in-process checks and non-conformance reports.
Distribute drapes and other supplies to Theatre and ward areas areas in West Cumberland Hospital
To undertake duties consistent with the responsibility of the grade and needs of the service.
To ensure safe handling of transportation trolleys and reusable medical devices.
Instruction to ensure that a high standard of work is maintained at all times.
To assist in the training of other decontamination personnel to perform tasks as directed by the Decontamination Supervisors.
To understand and be able to use the department IT traceability systems.
To communicate and liaise between decontamination personnel, customers and other members of healthcare staff in a polite and helpful manner.
To work within whichever part of the decontamination department is required to fulfil department function.

Enhanced Check: £38 + administration cost of £3.90 = £41.90. Deducted at £11.90 from 1st month salary and £10 deducted from salary over following 3 months.
