Due to expansion, our client in York (YO43) are looking for the perfect individual to join their team as a production supervisor on a permanent basis.
About the company
With an excellent reputation they are a leading player in the UK mushroom industry. They supply 300 tonnes of mushroom varieties per week to main UK retailers and to food service.
Shifts; 40 hours per week, rota’d on over 7 days, 08:00am-17:00pm.
Pay: £24,960 per year + overtime pay at 1.25.
The role
The core purpose of the role is to drive efficiency and productivity on the production lines in the packhouse. To assist the packhouse manager and to cover them in their absence. This is a permanent position.
Duties will include:
- • To effectively plan and organise the labour on the line to ensure the most efficient production output.
- • Ensure that all Hygiene and Health & Safety rules and procedures are followed by all operatives.
- • Ensure that all operatives comply with quality and good manufacturing procedures.
- • Ensure that all production KPI’s are achieved, and work to improve them.
- • Drive efficiencies within the lines and department.
- • Effectively communicate all Company information to all operatives on the line.
- • Ensure that the Packhouse and other linked areas are kept clean and tidy, at all time. Using a ‘clean as you go’ rule.
- • Ensure all orders are produced to the highest quality standard and within customer specification.
- • Ensure all waste and resources are kept to a minimum.
- • Ensure all documented details are recorded accurately and all changeover information is precise.
- • Ensure the accurate recording of downtime and batch counter’s for KPI purposes
- • Ensure the label check sheets are filled in correctly and verified.
- • Metal checks to be carried out on each line hourly and at the start and end of each run.
- • Checkweigher verification checks to be carried out at the start and end of each run.
- • Feedback all quality issues to the Production Manager and Technical Department.
- • Feedback any machine or equipment issues to Production Manager/Engineering Manager
- • Continuously monitor the process and offer ideas for improvement.
- • Motivate your team and develop a good team spirit.
- • Ensure all staff receive adequate training and report any gaps where applicable to trainer.
- • Leadership – take responsibility for team performance and take corrective action where necessary.
- • Lead by example – set the standard you want your team to follow.
Essential experience and qualifications
- • Previous experience as a team leader or supervisor within a manufacturing or packaging environment.
- • HACCP training experience
- • Team player
- • Basic IT skills
- • Good at problem solving
- • Good written and verbal communication
- • Excellent organisational skills
- • Flexible approach to working hours
- • 2nd level education/ qualifications i.e GCSE’S
- • Basic food hygiene qualification
Desirable Experience and qualifications
- • Previous experience in FMCG.
- • Advanced food hygiene qualification.
