Job title – Production Process Manager (Engineer)
Salary – £55,000 - £63,000 PA
Location – Palestra, Southwark & various depots
Contract Type – LU – FTC for 12 Months
Overview of project/role
To manage the setup, mobilisation and efficient delivery of Fleet heavy overhaul Projects. Utilising the use of lean engineering methods across the Depots and project teams to ensure continuous improvement and best practice. , To develop, draft and review Bills of Materials, VMIs, Risk Assessments and lifting plans. To productionise project work areas ensuring , Tooling, and Materials are all available to ensure continuous working during project works. To work with Suppliers and materials in developing delivery schedules for OH parts and working to develop OH kits and Line side "Just In Time" material schedules. To look for continuous improvements in production schedule and introduce process audits in conjunction with the Quality Assurance Engineer.
Key Accountabilities
- Accountable for providing daily guidance to the Project Production teams on daily project activities to ensure the timeframe for works is met.
- To develop, draft and review Bills of Materials, VMIs, Risk Assessments and lifting plans
- To plan and review all daily project activities such as (but not limited to) train preparation, depot train movements etc by utilising Management systems (e.g. Ellipse, SAP) ensuring decisions are made on resource levels which allow the wider project plans to be executed
- Ensure planning and controls for projects are in place for the depot by maintaining information on the asset management database which in turn allows project deadlines to be met.
- Accountable for regularly reviewing the Project Schedule Tasks with key stakeholders to ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, standards and legislation.
- To ensure the day to day depot project activities comply with all current legislation (including Health and Safety legislation). E.g carry out regular, agreed Planned General Inspections (PGI's) as well as engaging in Safety Hours with staff members.
- To implement and communicate approved new initiatives to improve productivity, process and overall rolling stock reliability allowing the smooth service to be delivered to the customer.
- To deputise for the Overhaul liaison Manager in their absence ensuring that the project area is managed in a safe, efficient, productive manner
- To manage staff and other resources so that production is maximised
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Knowledge
- ONC/HNC in an Engineering discipline or equivalent
- Knowledge of operational Railway safety principles, regulations and legislation
- Good record keeping and application of audit trail knowledge.
- Good understanding of Heath, Safety, Quality and Environmental standards and their application to the UK railway industry
- Knowledge and understanding of planning and project management
Skills
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with people at all levels across the organisation.
- Ability to influence people at all levels across the organisation, including negotiating and successfully facilitating joint decision.
- Ability to manage and motivate people within own team and across the organisation..
- Ability to manage customer expectations and deliver to meet these expectations.

- Ability to manage conflicting priorities and work under pressure to achieve tight deadlines
Experience
- Producing high quality and readable reports and presentations for all levels of audience
- Experienced in managing technical meetings.
- Experienced in managing small teams of staff
- Experience in delivering several continuous improvement projects simultaneously within an operating railway environment.
- Experience of using an asset management database e.g. Ellipse
- Experience of using SAP

Fixed term contract opportunity for 12 months
As a fixed term contractor we can offer you a choice of pension arrangements.
