Your new role

Based in Eastleigh Arlington Depot, you will be responsible for developing and delivering the operational maintenance plan with the necessary engineering support information to allow the efficient scheduling and execution of maintenance tasks on Project Acer. Additionally, plan the units in and out of the depot with all associated tasks.

Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:

  • Focus on future maintenance work: daily; weekly; monthly; quarterly and annually in order to develop and continually refine the production plan for units in Project Acer.
  • Liaise with the planning cell and production teams to identify and plan units in and out of Project Acer.
  • Identify and prioritise maintenance activities in accordance with contractual, performance, technical and safety requirements.
  • Liaise with Modifications Managers to plan the implementation of fleet modifications on stopped units.
  • Liaise with Engineering staff and promulgate Engineering Change where required.
  • Identify and monitor any engineering issues which affect the overall production plan.
  • Expedite material demands and act as the immediate focal point.
  • Identify and monitor any material issues which affect the overall production plan.
  • Ensure defects in-service and emerging work requirements are incorporated into the plan.
  • Liaise with Supply Chain to inform stock levels and purchasing decisions.
  • Liaise with Procurement and Supply Chain departments to identify, allocate and leverage resources to enable the production plan.
  • Liaise with contractors and external repair agencies in order to inform the production plan.
  • Comply with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in order to drive improvement.
  • Utilise the SAP Maintenance Management System (MMS) and other IT applications (SOROS, HFMT) where required in order to inform and develop the production plan.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with key stakeholders and maintain a customer focus.
  • Participate in daily conference calls.
  • Track and report on output delivery.
  • Willing to travel to other Hitachi sites for meetings and training.
  • Prepare reports and give verbal briefs as required.
  • Promote, support and comply with all health and safety practices in the workplace.
  • Undertake Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in accordance with Hitachi’s new business demands as required.
  • Any other duties as directed by the Outstations Manager.

About you

Licences / Competences

  • Previous experience of maintenance planning, scheduling and production.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and ability to think quickly.
  • Experience of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) – SAP, Maximo or Equinox.

Behavioural

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to represent Hitachi in a professional manner at all times.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders.

Desirable

Licences / Competences

  • Intermediate IT skills – Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Sound knowledge of railway operations and compliance to railway rules and regulations.
  • Previous experience of using IT tools: Trust, Bugle, Genius or SOROS.
  • Maintenance/ engineering experience within the rolling stock industry.
