At Portsmouth Water we have been supplying water to Portsmouth and the surrounding area since 1857. For 365 days of the year our water treatment works are in constant operation ensuring that we meet the water demands of our customers. Our production team operate and maintain our treatment works and due to a department restructure we have several exciting vacancies that we are looking to fill. The successful applicant will be self-motivated, smart phone literate, flexible and have good attention to detail, working as part of a team ensuring all work is carried out in line with the Company’s procedures and in full compliance with onsite Health and Safety. We are seeking a Production Operations Manager to lead a multi-disciplined team of production planners, senior operators, and a team leader to manage the operational aspects of our water treatment works, reservoirs and booster stations across Hampshire & West Sussex. You will Manage the section focusing on supply and demand, energy and chemical optimisation, biodiversity, and overall department performance. You will be accountable and responsible for the safety, leadership, and management of resources as well as the operation of our water treatment works, reservoirs and booster stations.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading a multi-disciplined team ensuring that we meet the water demand of our customers.
- Ensuring we comply with drinking water quality standards at all times.
- Leading, managing, and developing a team of up to 5 direct reports which includes two production planners, a production team leader and two senior operators.
- Delivering operational performance through performance management.
- Championing change through a passion for continuous improvement, promoting best practice ways of working and sharing local knowledge.
- Meeting and exceeding tight financial targets whilst maintaining quality.
- Delivering increased levels of customer service and experience.
- Driving a culture of safety, performance management and exceptional customer service.
- Driving continuous improvement at all levels, improving service, reducing cost, and improving asset performance and reliability.
- Minimising environmental impact, reducing the risk of pollution incidents, and developing contingency plans to enable an effective response to operational issues and plant failures.
The successful candidate needs to have:
- HNC/D in a process or a technically related field, along with having supervisory qualifications and experience.
- Excellent leadership experience, capability and vision.
- A recognised health and safety qualification (e.g. IOSH or NEBOSH)
- Ability to deliver against stretching operational targets.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good business/stakeholder awareness, together with an innovative and creative approach to problem-solving and strong team working and influencing skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- A full current driving license is essential, and a driving assessment will be undertaken.

Salary: CIRCA £58,655 + out of hours coordinator payments
