From EastEnders, Doctors and Casualty to River City and Pobol y Cwm, our programmes remain a constant source of gripping entertainment, featuring cliff-hanger storylines and much-loved characters with whom our viewers have grown up.
River City is BBC Scotland’s flagship drama with the residents of Sheildinch having experienced countless births, deaths and marriages with always more drama to come! We have also featured Scottish actors such as Dawn Steele, Alex Ferns, Frank Gallagher, Barbara Rafferty and Sam Heughan, who have all found their way to Montego Street.
Main ResponsibilitiesIn partnership with the River City editorial team, the Production Manager is responsible for managing on a day to day basis all blocks through preparation, crewing and shoot. You’ll ensure successful delivery of the programme to budget and schedule without sacrificing creative integrity through effective planning, monitoring and control of the production.
Maintaining a safe and healthy working environment at all times, escalating any issues or areas of concern is one of the priorities in this role, whilst also proactively looking for ways of improving efficiency within production and promote diversity.
In addition to these duties you will be expected to support the Line Producer by taking on projects, such as Albert.
Are you the right candidate?To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following –
- Proven experience of delivering productions across Drama, preferably in Continuing Drama, on time and on budget
- Experience of supervising or line managing of Production Staff
- Experience of monitoring and managing health and safety on a production
- Demonstrable working knowledge of end-to-end multi-platform production with a level of technical understanding to enable the most efficient production of content
- Effective project management skills and proven experience of delivering projects
- Able to manage interpersonal relationships effectively and operate with others in a diverse team
- Interpersonal and communication aptitudes sufficient to establish and maintain effective relations with a wide range of contacts
- Demonstrates strong organisational and planning skills and manages conflicting demands to meet deadlines
- Strong negotiating skills, able to influence, manage and negotiate deals and contracts in line with BBC policies and guidelines
- Demonstrates team leadership skills - able to lead, develop and motivate teams across a range of output
- Knowledge and passion for Continuing Drama, especially for River City
