Job Title: Production Manager

About us:
Epson Telford Limited was established in 1987, we are on a 50-acre site and operate a 24/7 manufacturing site.
We are the only European manufacturing and distribution site for ink cartridges and textile inks.
These products are shipped to an Epson warehouse in Germany where they are then distributed throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Quality and innovation is at the heart of everything we do, from our Cleanroom environment to our in-house machinery, design and technology improvements from which we use our own Epson 6-axis robots.
Hours of work:
Monday to Thursday 8.30am to 5.00pm, Friday 8.30am to 4.00pm
Position Summary:
Ink Manufacturing is a quality critical process which consist of blending ink and testing. Chemicals are blended to prescribed process in a cleanroom environment to deliver ink for all ETL products. Ink characteristics are thoroughly tested in our inhouse Laboratory to ensure EPSON quality standards are adhered to.
Textile ink products are infused in cleanroom environment again under strict quality standards, this consists of semi-automated and fully automated process equipment to deliver an efficient and repeatable process. Products are then transitioned to packing where they are packed manually in line with customer demand.
Headcount: ~100 staff through 5 direct reports.
The main duties and responsibilities for this role:
- Maintain a safety 1st Culture across the department through all staff and processes
- Oversee the operational and strategic Management of the Ink Blending, Lab and Textile areas
- Deliver KPI’s focusing on S,Q,C,D within your responsible departments
- Champion KPI’s, working with your direct team to identify gaps in performance, capability, and constraints
- Identify opportunities to improve business and production processes (Kaizen) to exceed expectations for KPI’s
- To drive a continuous improvement culture within your teams through Kaizen activities
- Lead projects to deliver strategic and business critical initiatives
- Support and drive Ink manufacturing trials and evaluations, in line with SEC demands and project timelines
- Work cross functionally with Planning/ Finance/ HR/ Warehouse to progress issues concerning production to ensure delivery inline with KPI’s. Fostering a team approach and aligning expectations across business
- Strategic planning of the production areas in relation to stock management, production plans, allocation of manpower and cost efficiencies, in line with the Manager expectations
- Drive engineering solutions to improve productivity and in process quality
- To establish and develop systems that monitor and report departmental efficiencies and workflow
- To ensure that staff are managed in accordance with performance criteria and targets
- Identification of training needs for all personnel to ensure maximum flexibility within the operation through training and development
- Own workplace management to achieve high standard of 5S and work instruction for the department
- To ensure the generation and management of the department’s budget & Business Plan in line with Company and Unit objectives. And to deliver quarterly updates to the Senior management team
- The generation of Management reports providing clear and concise performance information
- Adherence to KPI to ensure improvements within production Department on all levels and ensure the correct data is captured and reported in the format that drives this production Department forward
- Ensure effective stock management systems are in place and controlled to ensure all products and Parts stock is managed in line with Company stock accuracy targets
- Ensure all documentation, audits, training are complete inline with ISO-45001, 9001 requirements
Qualifications – essential:
- Technical qualification Level 4 (HND...)
- NEBOSH
Experience required – essential:
- Previous experience of management and leadership for large teams
- Previous experience in a fast-moving production department
- Excellent communication skills
- Performance management of staff
- Delivery of production targets and improvements
- Understanding of COSHH and Chemical processing
