POSITION OVERVIEW
The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the production team and making the daily production plan a reality.
SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- 5+ years’ experience in berry production line work
- Proficiency in all positions on the line (packer, dumper, stacker, etc.)
- Excellent knowledge of berry machinery and knowledge of berry types
- Prior supervisory experience, an asset. Sound understanding of the principles and practices of effective supervision, skilled at motivating and leading a diverse group of employees
- Excellent computer skills and the ability to learn in-house systems. Experience with Logitrack preferred
- Able to operate mobile equipment (forklifts and pallet jacks) safely and proficiently
- Able to adapt to changes and open to continuous improvement
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment, thinking and reacting quickly, and making fast yet accurate decisions
- Problem solving skills including dealing with such issues as shortage of fruit
- Able to prioritize job tasks efficiently and stay organized and in control of responsibilities
- Able to communicate and work well with others as part of a team, demonstrating politeness, respect, and courtesy in communication and daily interactions. Able to read, write, and speak English
- Must be able to provide clear, concise general instructions for team effectiveness and productivity, as well as take direction from others
- Able to adapt to changes and open to learning new ways to get things done more efficiently and effectively
- Able to lift 50 lbs
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, assign, oversee, and review the work activities of production staff
- Responsible for meeting production targets on day to day basis set by the management
- Ensure finished product is transferred to freezer / cooler immediately when ready
- Ensure raw material and packaging material is available to processing line.
- Ensure IQF is running smoothly
- Ensure finished product labelling is generated and applied at appropriate time
- Ensure production employees adhere to GMPs during processing time
- Ensure sanitation program is being performed as per the frequency and procedure
- Ensure flat washing is being carried out as per the procedure
- Calibration of filler scales before production starts
- Training to Production personnel in their area of their work
- Schedule production staff, demonstrating continuous effort to improve operational efficiency while meeting the needs and requirements of staff, producers, and customers
- Ensure optimal machine output and line speeds, maintaining quality of product, and confirming all orders are complete and correct
- Verify that production is ready to commence at the beginning of the shift- review all areas along the line and ensuring employees are on shift, have everything they need, and are prepared and ready to start
- Revise production schedules and priorities as a result of equipment failure, operating problems, and availability of fruit supply
- Respond to day-to-day issues in the plant, such as employee concerns, equipment failures, supply needs, and delays in productions
- Ensure employees are following established HACCP, Biosecurity, and Health and Safety procedures
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with all levels of staff
- Ensure all food safety issues and conditions that could affect food safety are communicated with the Plant Manager, Operations Manager & SQF/HACCP Coordinator
- Report any known workplace hazards to the Plant Manager
- Promote a clean and tidy work environment

Salary: $23.00-$28.00 per hour
