Job Purpose:
Responsible for the effective and efficient management of the manufacturing, test, assembly and finishing operations.
Main Duties:
- Ensuring the effective and efficient operation of the manufacturing, assembly, test and finishing area.
- Lead and drive through continuous performance improvement plans and projects to include lean and 5s procedures.
- Devise production plans and implement and monitor to ensure the on-time delivery of production targets.
- Execute business objectives (production volume, manufacturing controlled cost, quality, safety, lean initiatives) in line with operational performance plan.
- Manage the efficiency and quality outputs of the team, offering feedback where required and continually encouraging improvements through mentoring and further development and understanding training needs.
- Monitor the available capacity and workload of the production team, evaluating and reviewing their ongoing performance.
- Work with the Operations Manager to ensure performance measures, KPI’s and targets are successfully achieved.
- Ensure product quality standards are consistently achieved and monitor the number of NCR and customer complaints and devise rectification plans when appropriate.
- Ensure health and safety regulations and housekeeping programmes are adhered to, maintaining an efficient, tidy and safe environment for all.
- Generate weekly production reports and data analysis and review with the Operations Manager and recommend and implement improvement actions where necessary.
- All other associated tasks to ensure the efficient running of the manufacturing and assembly lines and Finishing function.
Nature and Scope:
Under the nature and scope of this role the Manufacturing Manager will: -
- Pro-actively champion and drive the implementation of continuous improvement across the manufacturing facility, challenging current methods, developing new processes to improve efficiency and on time delivery in line with operational performance plan.
- Create and sustain an operations culture that is built on Lean Manufacturing methodologies, continuous improvement and clear accountability.
- Support the business with the continuous improvement of procedures, practices, methodologies, working practices and systems ensuring our compliance of ISO 9001 accreditation.
- Provide solutions to the operational challenges encountered within manufacturing, assembly and logistics and warehouse functions.
- Generate reports and analyse data to achieve process optimisation and develop best working practices across all factory functions.
- Help to solve the challenges facing the manufacturing facility through data analysis and process optimisation.
- Have the experience needed to strike the right balance between hands on engagement in daily activities and tactical deployment of the company objectives. This role will have the breadth and resources to shape how manufacturing operates and how materials flow on the shop floor.
- Assess and monitor resource requirements, including shift patterns, cost of basic hours, overtime spend and agency usage and make recommendations for cost-efficiencies as necessary.
Person Specification:
Experience
- Significant operational leadership experience with a demonstrated track record of applying Lean/CI principles to realise business goals and deliver productivity.
- Lean Six Sigma knowledge.
