Head of Production (Meat) (Wolverhampton)

Salary: £42,000 - £50.000 (Depending on experience) plus excellent benefits package including 20% bonus opportunity, Mobile Phone & Laptop.

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Head of Production (Meat) to join our award winning team working within our Fresh Foods division based in Hilton Cross, Wolverhampton.

About the Role:

As the Head of Production (Meat) you will oversee the development, organisation and control of efficient and profitable cutting plant/MAP/skin pack/meat packing operations in order to provide a high-quality service to the customer, whilst working within BRC standards and the constraints of company policy and relevant legal requirements

Key accountabilities

Reporting into the Commercial Director you will be responsible for;

• The start-up and development of a MAP/skin pack meat packing production line
• Maintaining high standards of customer service throughout all areas of responsibility
• The recruitment, training, discipline, development and deployment of staff
• Provision of adequate levels of supervision, guidance, communication and opportunities for staff involvement
• The control of all cutting room operations including forecasting and output against KPI’s.
• Identifying and applying process improvements in line with modern manufacturing methods using lean systems
• Maintaining quality control, health & safety and food safety compliance in line with current BRC standards
• Controlling the purchase, use and maintenance of all equipment, plant, machinery and protective clothing/equipment
• The control of all depot hygiene operations
• Maintaining high levels of security within all areas of responsibility
• Support and promote food safety, quality, legality, and authenticity within the role

Key Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Qualifications Required

• Demonstrable experience of meat/MAP/CAP production is essential
• Demonstrable experience of BRC standards and audit requirements and a commitment to development to ensure compliance
• Previous experience within a similar role/environment
• Demonstrably high level of leadership skills and experience
• Demonstrable management experience in a food operational environment
• Written and Verbal Communication skills
• Proven ability to work within budget constraints
• Self-starter, quick to take the initiative and spot new opportunities
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships, influence, negotiate and persuade
• Strong organisational and planning skills
• Ability to use logical and creative thinking to solve problems and make decisions
• Commercially focused, capable of delivering results in a cost-effective manner
• Customer focussed and understands the importance of this to the business
