Job description
The Production Engineer provides direct technical and operational support for the operating assets at our Baytown Site. The production engineer will work in a team environment and focus on safe and compliant operations daily. The production engineer will identify, develop, and implement changes that improve performance as it relates to safety, reliability, throughput, quality, and cost. The site is currently undergoing significant capital investment and expansion the production engineer will be a key resource in the commissioning and startup of this effort.
- Supports or leads the development of the systems, tools, processes, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) used to in the manufacturing process
- Collaborates with manufacturing and R&D teams to design, test, develop and optimize scalable production processes and deploy equipment and instruments used in operations
- Utilizes process simulation and engineering methodologies with a structured problem-solving approach to identify root causes and devise and implement solutions for processing problems.
- Establishes and tracks production and quality metrics. Develops and generates effective reports.
- Monitors production operations for quality and performance to identify improvements to current process technology.
- Stewards and provides leadership to the Management of Change process and other PSM activities
- Integrates safety and quality into processes by utilizing material handling and disposal best practices.
- Supports unit startups and troubleshooting efforts at the plant.
- Fills in for other team members as required.
- Ensures compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering
- Proven effectiveness in a team environment
- Minimum of 4+ years of experience in an operating/manufacturing environment
