Simply Sewing is part of Our Media’s market leading stable of craft magazines - an exciting and growing division that includes (among others) Love Embroidery, Love Patchwork and Quilting and Simply Knitting.
The sewing industry has been in growth for some time, and since its launch over seven years ago, Simply Sewing has established itself as a market leader in the contemporary sewing and dressmaking field. Fresh, contemporary projects and trend-led photography are at the heart of the magazine, with 92 pages of inspirational projects, features, techniques and news for the modern sewing community. With the competition hot our heels, we’re looking to build on our existing success with innovative new ideas to keep Simply Sewing at the top!
Position
Simply Sewing is part of Our Media’s market leading stable of craft magazines - an exciting and growing division that includes (among others) Love Embroidery, Love Patchwork and Quilting and Simply Knitting.

The Production Editor is responsible for organising the editorial production of the magazine to the highest possible standard and to deadline - and ensuring the maintenance of a consistent editorial tone. The Production Editor controls the copy flow for both current and future issues to make sure that all issues run smoothly as well as managing social media accounts for the brand.
Responsibilities include:
- Controlling flow between editorial and art departments and troubleshooting to make sure that the process runs smoothly without bottlenecks.
- Processing every page ready for publication
- Managing the brand's social media content (Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter) for both organic posts and paid-for contra content, to a schedule
- General administrative tasks (shared by the team)

Requirements
Essential:
- Excellent command of written English, including the ability to adapt tone to magazine style.
- Proven experience of running the magazine production process.
- Keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Good communication skills.
- Adobe InDesign, Word, Excel and general Mac skills.
- Excellent organisational abilities, with experience at editorial processes and prioritising workload.
- Knowledge of the craft market, or at least a personal interest in crafts/sewing/craft.
- Demonstrable skills in at least one craft.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of, and/or experience in, sewing and dressmaking.
- Experience of creating online content, e.g. blog writing and newsletter production.
- Basic knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and PhotoShop.
