Job Description
· Preparation and review of monthly management accounts from trial balance to financial statements. This includes performing all the necessary related functions such as maintenance of the COA, approval of journals and ensuring all tasks performed by the team are completed accurately and on a timely basis. · Comprehensive balance sheet reconciliations, including stock, intercompany, bank accounts, accruals, prepayments, fixed asset reporting and intercompany balances. · Comparing actual performance to flash and budgets, providing accurate commentary in support of the monthly results. · Direct and indirect tax submissions to the relevant authority. This includes preparing the workings for VAT returns and Corporation Tax, as well as providing guidance to the finance function as to correct treatments. · Responsible for weekly and monthly cash flow reporting and forecasting. · Assistance with the production of year-end statutory financial statements packs, liaising with the Group finance department as well as external professional advisers. · Assistance with the year-end statutory audit process, liaising with external auditors and providing all necessary documentation and evidence. · Develop and implement strong controls and procedures within the finance area, providing a strong base for the continued rapid growth of the business and mitigation of risk. · Involvement in the production of annual budgeting and half year re-forecasting · Escalation point of contact for accounting queries, promoting financial understanding and control within the business, championing best practice and ensuring you remain up to date with regulatory changes and current industry thinking. · Provide significant input to monthly financial trading reviews, stock positioning reviews, bad debt and Group cost reviews with senior stakeholders. · Provide timely, insightful reporting and management information to senior management. · Management and development of the team, which consists of CIMA graduates and post qualified
The Successful Applicant
The essential skills/attributes are: -
· Qualified CIMA, ACCA or ACA accountant with a minimum of 5 years post qualified experience. · Educated to degree level, minimum 2:1. · Strong technical accounting skills. · Advanced Excel skills. · Strong written and verbal communication skills. · Experience of interacting across all levels of the organisation including dealing with non-finance people to gather relevant information. · Experience of fostering strong working relationships within the finance team and across the organisation. · Excellent attention to detail. · Show an impressive attitude and not only take full responsibility for their duties but are enthusiastic to take on new challenges which will develop their own career. · Experience of managing / supervising a finance team.
Desirable skills/attributes are:-
· Experience of working within a fast growing business environment. · Experience of managing projects in the management accounting arena, specifically those designed to improve and streamline processes. · Experience of Sage 200, Sage X3
