Korea Foods Company is the leader in the supply of Korean food in the UK. A family-run business, established in 1999, Korea Foods Company has around 300 employees working within its Head Office, Logistics Centres, and Retail Stores.
We import from key brands in Korea, and distribute to the Asian community, focusing on East Asian consumers. We have also seen substantial growth within the supermarket multiples, securing significant listings with Tesco, Morrisons, Asda, and Costco.
We also operate our own retail store network, currently with 11 stores within the estate, with more opening in 2023, operating some of our own production within stores.
The company is an incredibly dynamic place to work, with ambiguity and transparency that is often associated with family-run businesses. It is, also, whilst not for the faint-hearted, a rewarding workplace where personal achievements are recognised due to the relatively flat management structure.
The company is now seeking to export UK and European food and beverage products to other foreign markets, specifically South Korea. As such we are setting up an export department to manage the supply chain between the UK and Korea.
*The predominant hours for the role will be 9am to 6pm with 1 hour unpaid break for lunch.
Key Responsibilities:
To ensure, on a daily basis, high quality and efficient rice wine production including:
· Assisting the Makgeolli (Korean Rice Wine) production
· Quality control throughout the production process and verifying that the finished goods conform to our standards
· Stock organisation: Checking stock levels and ensuring rotation of goods
· Washing up, cleaning and maintaining the production area
· Managing all the Critical Control Points (CCPs) of the fermentation process
· Monitoring fermentation: temperature, humidity (etc)
· Performing all food safety and quality checks throughout the process
· Maintaining a high standard of safety and hygiene standards throughout the brewery
· Manual preparation of products, including some manual handling
· Bottling, wrapping & labelling products, ensuring goods is in spec for packaging dates
· Packing & despatch of mail orders when required
· Basic office administration
· Any other reasonable management instruction or request
Person Specification:
· Additional language skills of Chinese and/or Korean would be highly advantageous
· At least 1 year experience working in a Food production environment or similar position in previous employment is desired but not essential as training will be given
· To be aware, adhere to and understand Food Hygiene and Food Safety regulations, safe methods of work including the handling and use of knives and machinery. Food Hygiene and Safety Level 2 qualification is essential. HACCP level is essential (if not available training will be provided)
· Experience in kitchen, food preparation, bakery environment would be beneficial
· Full flexibility to work a variety of shifts including weekends in line with business needs
· Good understanding of and adherence to health and safety, food hygiene and quality assurance principles
· Ability to work well in a team in a fast-paced production environment
· Strong communication and time management skills
· Strong record keeping abilities
· Positive and committed attitude to work
· Demonstrate a passion for the industry
