Job description
The Public Schools of Brookline, MA is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Performing Arts Department Production Assistant at Brookline High School for a 0.4FTE Lab Specialist position. The person in this position will work with our Drama, Dance and Music departments to support the production of performances throughout the school year. Some of the responsibilities include the following:
- Communicating with Performing Arts faculty to understand and anticipate all tech needs for shows.
- Coordinating the use of Performing Arts Department performance spaces to ensure equitable access and to avoid conflicts.
- Ability to run all lighting, sound and other related tech needs. Setting up and running tech for some performances.
- Working with teachers to recruit and then to train students to run tech support for performances.
- Working with directors to coordinate and help with strikes.
- Working within allocated budgets to hire set, tech and lighting designers, musicians, videographers, and other performance support as needed for productions.
- Coordinating pickup/delivery and return of special items needed for performances (e.g. dry ice, spotlights, additional lighting, etc.)
- Ensuring that the Performing Arts Department equipment (stage lights, house lights, sound, mics, computer systems/control panels, projectors, etc.) is fully operational and quickly coordinating needed repairs of equipment.
- Ensuring all Performing Arts Department performance needs, from tech to posters and ticketing, from publicity to documentation of performances, are covered.
Brookline High School has a very strong Performing Arts Department, where we work with close to 1000 students every year in Music, Drama and Dance. We are looking for a team player to join us to support our many shows throughout the school year.
