Job description

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support and guidance at the heart of the trading teams so that Morrisons Nutmeg standards for quality, safety, statutory compliance, corporate social responsibility and integrity are achieved, and business and commercial improvements are delivered. The role also ensures that our customers can enjoy wearing our clothing products, knowing that they are safe, legal, sustainably sourced.


You’ll be accountable for:


  • Ensuring that customers safety and satisfaction are at the forefront of all decision making

  • Operate a continuous improvement programme through the global quality framework and sustainability requirements to improve customer satisfaction

  • Monitor customer returns, complaint trends, social media posts and media reviews to identify product issues and take appropriate action

  • Ensure that relevant technical files are in place for Morrisons Nutmeg own brand and imported products to ensure they are safe, legal and fit for intended purpose

  • Verify that all suppliers/factories are routinely audited against the Morrisons Manufacturing Standard and any necessary corrective action plans are implemented by suppliers in a timely manner

  • Be the hub for supplier communication, clearly communicating Morrisons Nutmeg expectations for fabric, sustainability and packaging requirements for both domestic and direct import product

  • Develop, maintain and communicate all technical and quality requirements to ensure all product is developed, sourced and produced in line with Morrisons expectations

  • Manage the technical process including fabric specifications, risk assessment sign off, product testing and care labels to authorise approval for suppliers.

  • Simplify and speed up the technical process through supplier development, supporting and training suppliers with the ability to self-manage risk and approve products identified as appropriate

  • Ensure a full end to end quality process is managed to aid in the delivery of continuous improvement for all product categories. Consult with relevant key stakeholders to ensure that customer’s quality expectations are delivered consistently

  • Managing 3rd party relationships to support delivery of fabric, sustainability and packaging requirements

  • Ensure safe, legal and sustainably sourced products are launched right first time against an agreed critical path that consistently meets our customer’s expectations and agreed quality standards.

  • Achieve a reduction in rework/returns to improve the net margin and gross profit
