About the Role:
Weyerhaeuser Engineering plays a critical role supporting the specification and application of Weyerhaeuser engineered wood products. Our engineering team is an innovative group that fosters diverse thinking and problem solving.
As an engineer with Weyerhaeuser, you will be involved in: the specification of Trus Joist and Weyerhaeuser products; engineering and software analysis of Trus Joist products; field support to builders and framers; and, training of sales and marketing associates within Weyerhaeuser; and our customers.
Weyerhaeuser is looking for an experienced EIT or new Professional Engineer who is a creative self-starter that enjoys a wide variety of opportunities to join our organization as a Product Support Engineer - PE. The successful candidate should thrive on problem solving, using diverse thinking, and networking with colleagues on solutions. We seek a team player with strong inter-personal skills.
This position will require some travel as dictated by assignments.
This role reports to our Engineering Manager, PE, who is located in Dallas, Texas. The preferred location for this role is hybrid based in Charlotte, North Carolina or Dallas, Texas. This role is eligible for fully remote if you are located or planning on relocating to the following states: AL, FL, GA, MS, NC, SC, TX, or VA. This role is not open to those who live in other states or countries.
Key Functions:
- Actively participate in a safety-driven workplace culture
- Work independently or under the supervision of engineers:
- Answer customer inquiries on Weyerhaeuser products and residential construction
- Trus Joist product specification (dealers, specifiers, architects, engineers, etc.
- Resolving field issues
- Provide software analysis of Trus Joist and Weyerhaeuser premium products
- Testing Weyerhaeuser software
- Provide engineering support to specifiers (engineer of record, architects, dealers, building officials, etc.)
- Conduct customer training using a variety of platforms/media
- Engineer-in-training certification
- PE license preferred (open to an individual who is working towards this)
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution required
- 2-4+ years professional experience in Civil or Structural engineering required
- Critical thinker with a desire to become an integral part of our team
- Highly motivated and organized individual who excels in a dynamic team environment
- Goal-oriented attention to detail and deadlines
- Willingness to safely participate in a results-based culture
- Strong communication and analytical skills
- Functional knowledge of AutoCAD or related drafting software
