Product Owner – Core Retail Finance
As the Product Owner, you will have the responsibility for change and run of a product area within a larger domain, driving product strategy, roadmap and execution for that by leading a varied team of talented Technology people in various roles.
The Product Owner – Core Retail (Finance) will be responsible for developing and operating capabilities regarding the Finance Modules in the Core Oracle Retail suite of applications; ReIM, ReSA and RMS. They and their team will work closely with the Product Owner for Core Retail (BMD) and the Product Owner responsible for Financials to ensure that changes across the Core Retail Product are made in a consistent manner.

The Product Owner – Core Retail (Finance) will be responsible for developing and operating capabilities regarding the Finance Modules in the Core Oracle Retail suite of applications; ReIM, ReSA and RMS. They and their team will work closely with the Product Owner for Core Retail (BMD) and the Product Owner responsible for Financials to ensure that changes across the Core Retail Product are made in a consistent manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Working with Business stakeholders, set vision for your products using industry knowledge, functional expertise and your understanding of the Primark business context. Support the business owner in defining objectives that will influence the product vision
- Leading the development team in delivering value to the user
- Managing live products to ensure value is being delivered to end users. Ensuring BAU operations are achieved, and system availability is maintained
- Accountable for the release plan and strategy & cross portfolio alignment on relative priorities for the suite of products which may be identified to solve business and customer problems.
- Accountable for maximising the value of the product resulting from work of the development team and through its end-to-end lifecycle
- Responsible for the product development and operations, participating in planning (Sprint and Product increment) and providing a refined and precisely prioritised product backlog for the development team
- Understanding user needs, how the business works and driving the development of the product through clear prioritisation. Envisaging and understand the final product and convey the value it creates and what problems it solves
- Initiate and translate the product road map into a manageable product backlog and prioritise delivery based on value, risk and service considerations
- Support the articulation of sprint goals by providing product vision
- Work with the Product Manager to define, prioritise and break the feature backlog into stories, including clarification and acceptance criteria
- Collaborate closely with key team members and delivery partner to ensure the acceptance criteria of stories is met and support the release planning and sprint planning exercises
- Understand Agile estimation approaches and support the delivery team in being self-managing
- Combine awareness of the relevant business area, the retail market, our customers and other consuming technology product teams to ensure products satisfy all three
- Understand the primary activities and supporting process activities for value maximization
- Know our market, our competition and our business models. Identify trends within customer segments and product segments for new products or improvements for existing ones
- Keep abreast of new technical developments which could improve or redefine the product and customer experience
- Build a culture of customer value driven development
- Promote a cross-team spirit amongst Product Owner peers
- Support the operationalisation of the product into the mainstream organisation and ensure adoption of products across the organisation
- Support our transformation by proactively educating colleagues within technology and wider Primark about agile methodologies and product management
- Support the delivery of products from wireframes to product launch to measuring engagement, working closely with the engineering team
- Participate in 'on call' rota and fulfil requirements and demands as appropriate
- Over 3 years’ experience in business relationship management in an IT environment
- Experience in Oracle Retail (MOMS) and in particular ReIM, ReSA and the financial elements of RMS (e.g., GL XREF, Cost Accounting) are desirable
- An appropriate degree, equivalent qualification, or experience
- Preferably a certification in Agile Product Ownership, Scaled Agile or equivalent
- Industry or functional expertise validated through experience working for a Retailer
- Able to clearly articulate the evolution of products through design thinking and user story mapping
- Possess proven experience in establishing and growing products
- Have excellent knowledge of relevant business portfolio and functional expertise
- Possess excellent Business partner and supplier leadership skills
- Consistent track record of strategic and innovative thinking
- Consistent record of driving service and delivery improvement
- Commercial management experience and financial literacy
- Excellent communication skills – relatability to non-technical business users and technical resources
- Excellent people leadership skills
