Job Description


The Product Owner is responsible for the product’s success.

As part of the Development Department and a key member of the Scrum team, our Product Owners deliver our product’s success by defining: quarterly OKRs for core product and roadmap features to meet the OKRs.



ORGANISATIONAL REPORTING

Reports to Lead Product Owner



LOCATION
Home based or blended with Hull office, occasional travel to customer sites when required.


KEY DUTIES

  • Champion products and serve our control room customers by:

  • Bing subject matter expertise for a specific product or domain or module

  • Providing feedback to customers on the state of requests, closing the loop from request to delivery.

  • Provision of fully versioned functional specifications

  • Demonstrating new features and giving feedback on sprint achievement, as well as to scrum team

  • Keeping track of industry standards, and customer expectations on new or existing products

  • Analysing customer opinions and feedback to determine features or components that will add good value to a product

  • Ensure product development adds value by:

  • Defining quarterly OKRs for that drive product delivery focus

  • Ensuring EPICs, and all Product Backlog Items (PBI) are linked to delivery of OKRs

  • Ensuring all PBIs are prioritised in product backlogs to reflect priority of OKRs

  • Ensuring all PBIs are matured ahead of refinement with appropriate artifacts

  • Ensuring sprint backlog items are meet INVEST entry criteria

  • Ensuring all new features, Improvements and Defects have appropriate BDD scenarios to define done

  • Planning product releases and upgrades with development delivery and test

  • Exchange ideas with product owners within the organization


Qualifications


SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Extensive experience of working within software development

  • Experience of and commitment to agile ways of working

  • Experience of highlighting over complicated systems and processes and providing solutions with a ‘painless’ user interface

  • Ability to motivate and encourage positive behaviours.

  • Ability to prioritise based on value and conflicting customer requirements

  • The ability to learn and understand technical concepts and requirements quickly

  • Collaborative approach, must be able to build good working relationship

  • A methodical and logical approach to problem solving

  • Ability to communicate at all levels.

  • Education and Training:

  • Degree level or equivalent in Software engineering or Business management or related disciplines or have relevant experience.

  • Training and certification as a professional scrum product owner or as a certified scrum product owner.

  • Leadership Skill: Ability to direct and motivate the product development team / Scrum team.

  • Analytical Skill: Strong analytical skills, with the ability to determine most appropriate feature to add to a new or existing product
