Product Owner

Our technology teams in the UK work closely with HSBC’s global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely. We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world’s leading international bank.
Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.
We work in small, agile DevOps teams with colleagues around the world from our offices at the Bluefin Building in Southwark, our global headquarters in Canary Wharf, and multiple other locations around the UK including Sheffield, Leeds, Barnsley and Birmingham.
Following extensive investment across our Technology and Digital domains and with plans for continued expansion throughout 20nn and beyond, we are currently seeking a Product Owner to join HSBC Technology.
Business Area Overview:
The Digital Business Automation function is responsible for the products, technology and standards supporting workload automation and file transfers across the HSBC group for all lines of business.
We deliver a number of technologies that provide highly reliable, resilient and secure services. These are typical 3rd party software hosted on HSBC infrastructure.
The function is responsible for all aspects of the development lifecycle and the ongoing operation and maintenance of the services in production; ensuring that bank policies, guidelines, governance, and standards are adhered to
Purpose of the Job:
Manage all aspects of operational data to drive strategic decision making and ensure compliance with internal Controls and commercial agreements with external suppliers
Responsible For:
- Act as Operational Data Lead for the platform, managing service and product information in all systems of record (e.g. EIM, AMDB) to support key control requirements.
- Manage reporting of product deployment and usage to assist with capacity planning and contractual commitments e.g. BMC statement of capacity, IBM Sapphire.
- Manage and maintain inventory data for services provided by the platform, including usage of our services by Important Business Services.
- Oversee and co-ordinate the evergreening and capacity planning position for the platform, ensuring funding requirements are prepared and that funded projects are tracked to completion.
- Assist teams in understanding existing contracts, including limitations / constraints, to ensure that teams are compliant with the contractual requirements – highlight areas of potential risk and develop plans to remediate.
- Identify opportunities to exploit greater value from existing commercial agreements, and opportunities to re-structure or exit agreements to drive greater value.
- Lead service reviews to assess vendor / supplier performance and drive improvement initiatives.
- Act as TPEM for existing vendors, ensuring tasks are completed in Archer.

- Ability to assimilate complex information and data and to be able to translate it into a consumable and engaging format for stakeholders with clear explanations and recommendations.

- Proven ability to build long-term relationships and work collaboratively to deliver increased value and efficiencies.
- Experience of working in a data management role and using data sources such as Service Now, EIM, Archer, QlikSense etc.
- An understanding of the Bank’s Third-Party Engagement Management and Risk & Controls frameworks.
- Ability to develop, track and report KPIs, KCIs, OKRs etc.
- An understanding of Agile methodologies and adopting Agile working practices would be beneficial but is not essential.
