About Us

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Product Manager to make a significant impact at a rapidly growing business with an inspiring mission.

The Modern Milkman is a purpose-driven business that delivers fresh ways to reduce waste for customers nationwide. Our goal is to reset our throwaway society and, to date, we've saved 55,203,835 plastic bottles from landfill. Not bad for a business that started as four friends from Lancashire delivering milk from a beat-up truck!

About the Role

We are looking for someone to help grow the product function here at The Modern Milkman. This person will be focussed on the fulfilment and driver experience working closely with our hubs, delivery drivers, operations, fleet, and supply chain teams to understand how we can develop new tools and features that support our teams in delivering a world-class service for our customers.

Although we believe this person will initially cover the fulfilment and driver experience, as the business continues to grow and evolve, we anticipate there being opportunities for changes in domain to align with the wider business strategy and product direction.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Product Manager (or Product Owner wanting to step into a PM role) to contribute to a key lever of our business growth. This person will report into the Senior Product Manager and we expect them to work closely with the Design, Engineering, and other teams across the business and our Partner network.

This is a hybrid role with an expectation to spend 2 days a week in our Manchester office (probably Tuesday and Thursday) and the other 3 working from home. We're flexible time-wise around core team hours.

The successful candidate can expect a very competitive benefits package such including £300 budget to spend on home working equipment and a £300 annual budget for use on personal health and wellbeing.

What might you do?

  • Think big to support the product strategy for the fulfilment and driver experience, but build small to iterate features and learn fast
  • Own and clearly communicate the roadmap for the fulfilment experience and ensure a common understanding of the initiatives and goals across the organisation
  • Represent the user in decisions by conducting user and market research to generate and validate product initiatives and potential solutions
  • Analyse and synthesise data, insights, user feedback, performance KPIs to identify and drive key focus areas in the domain
  • Work closely with stakeholders across the business to ensure complete alignment and gather valuable insights to inform the wider product strategy and potential future initiatives
  • Lead collaborative shaping and discovery cycles to understand opportunities and ideate and validate potential solutions to people problems
  • Produce robust feature specs and communicate a compelling narrative for development teams to work from
  • Work within a cross-functional squad to ensure work is refined collaboratively and prioritise features and BAU work based on value
  • Work closely with the Design team to continuously enhance and optimise the driver user journeys and overall user experience for Partners, drivers and teams
  • Work closely with the Engineering team to motivate and support teams in delivery of valuable products, initiatives, and features
  • Help promote and drive the product function across the business and continuously evolve the ways in which it can add further value to the business

Requirements

  • 3+ years working directly with UX and technology teams to build great products and manage the associated workflow
  • Experience in developing and maintaining product roadmaps and backlogs
  • Experience in conducting user research sessions to gather and synthesise user insights (both qualitative and quantitative)
  • Experience in conducting product discoveries using a variety of tools and frameworks
  • Experience in working closely with stakeholders to gather inputs and insights that feed into effective decision making
  • Strong understanding of product delivery lifecycles from idea generation through to sunsetting products/features
  • Strong understanding of balancing tactical and strategic work and articulating the associated trade-offs
  • Understanding of what makes a good user experience and service and a passion for delighting users
  • Experience in logistics/fulfilment/supply chain may be advantageous but isn't a pre-requisite for this role!

Feel like you might not meet all the requirements but you're excited about this opportunity? We encourage you to apply anyway - you may just be the right candidate for this or other roles.

Whether working directly with consumers or working to help better enable our colleagues, if you're passionate about our mission and about keeping people at the heart of everything you do then we want to hear from you!

Benefits

  • 25 days holiday, 8 bank holidays. Plus, your birthday off too!
  • Up to 6% matched company pension
  • Life insurance with Aviva & 25% off gym membership
  • Access to thanksBen, for a range of core & flexible benefits
  • Employee discount off Modern Milkman products
  • Enhanced parental leave & pay
  • Employee Assistance Line & Mental Health support through 'thanksBen'
  • Cycle to work scheme & Octopus EV salary sacrifice
  • In-person company events twice/three times a year!
  • £300 working from home set up + plus company laptop
  • £300 L&D budget per annum
  • £300 well-being budget per annum
  • Up to 4 weeks working abroad
  • 2x volunteering days & access to 'onHand', plus 2 team volunteering days
