The role holder will own and lead a capabiolities product management team within the Data Networking portfoilios lifecycle managing key access and capabilities that support the multiple UK networking portfolios. These include Fibre and GEA accesses which are consumed into Ethernet, IP and DIA portfolios are of strategic importance to BT Business as croitical elelemnts of the core connectivity portfolios. The role will oversee the short and medium term portfolio strategy including full portfolio lifecycle management and will work with the transformation teams on transformation of the portfolio onto new platforms and processes to ensure continued relevance and differentiation to internal and external customers and owning the portfolio of in life products. This will include lifecycle management of the relevant capabilities into current IT and also value IT models.
The role holder will
  • Develop, manage and deliver a core set of connectivity capabilities that support the Ethernet, IP and Internet portfolios including Fibre, GEA, 21CN together with bespoke access capabilities.
  • Working closely with the relevant product management teams to ensure the Product requirements are being met through the capability lifecycle management and ensuring a modular solution common capability approach is maintained.
  • Manages strategic supplier relationships to ensure investment and support in future portfolio development
  • Provides subject matter expertise to support the execution of the capability roadmaps in support of the product strategy within Business and into the CFUs
  • Acting as Team Leader for the capabilities product management team with line manager responsibility
What you’ll be doing
  • Leadership of core connectivity capbilitioes covering access and 21Cn in support of the portfolio that consume.
  • Set out the roadmap vision, strategy and investment roadmap across capability lifecycle with the Senior Manager of Data Networking and the Portfolio managers.
  • Ensuring a modular solutions, common capability approach of core product capabilities supporting multiple product consumption
  • Manage the full portfolio lifecycle from product development, to in life and end-of-life initiatives
  • Proivide subject matter expertise in support of both the Product management teams but also into value channels for key bids (sales and specialists) as appropriate
  • Support transition of portfolio to strategic systems and processes and management in a hybrid environment
  • Team management responsibility and wider matrix management interfaces
  • Identifies new products or enhancements to existing products by understanding and analysing user needs, BT Group's current product suite and business requirements of internal functions like sales and delivery.
  • Collaborates with analytics and engineering teams, and interfaces with cross functional stakeholders e.g. executives, sales, product, marketing, legal, and customer success teams to fulfil the product backlog using Scrum/ Agile methodologies.
  • Contributes towards the continual assessment of the needs of customers, tech teams and stakeholders in defining and evolving the product strategy.
  • Ensures accurate and formal product documentation such as feature sheets and user guides.
  • Ensures constant analysis of customer behaviour, developing metrics and cultivating novel techniques to help our customers.
  • Contributes towards comprehensive product requirements to instrument new tracking events, build data tools, pipelines, analytic dashboards and visualisations.
  • Mentors other product management professionals, helping to improve the team’s abilities by acting as a technical resource.
