Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s Customer Quality Services (CQS) is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Product Engineer.
The primary responsibility of this role is to initiate and lead Early Detection Early Resolution (EDER) for Field Quality Concerns related to Toyota and Lexus Vehicles.
Reporting to the Electrical Vehicle & Component Quality Manager, the person in this role will support the Customer Quality Service (CQS) Department’s objective to initiate and lead Early Detection Early Resolution (EDER) for Field Quality Concerns related to Toyota and Lexus Vehicles.
What you’ll be doing
In this position you will lead Early Detection Early Resolution (EDER) through the following ways:
Provide technical expertise in the identification and resolution of Electrical related product quality issues.
Using several Early Detection (ED) sources (Field Technical Reports (FTR), Warranty, Warranty Return Parts, Parts Orders and Sales, Customer Relation contacts, Legal, etc.) and technical sources to identify field quality problems and have them investigate/counter-measured by responsible divisions (Plant, Design, Supplier, Distributor, etc.)
Review / Process Field Reports (FTRs, DPRs and PQRs) in TQCN.
Support new model launch quality activities at the various ports and manufacturing plants
Evaluate proposed field-fix and production change improvements.
Daily review / investigation of warranty return parts to conduct EDER.
Travel with short notice for “Genchi Genbutsu” (Go and See) to reduce time between the first report of a quality problem to providing a resolution for the customer.
Support the facilitation of meetings and negotiations with various Toyota groups (Manufacturing, Design, Sales, Purchasing, Service, Accounting/Finance) and suppliers.
Manage / coordinate multiple quality issues from detection to closure (ECI implementation, TI / TSB issuance, implementation of production countermeasure, availability of countermeasure service parts, etc.)
Collaborate, develop, and implement process improvements through Hoshin and Kaizen based projects.
What you bring
Bachelor of Science degree (or higher) in an Engineering discipline, or Automotive Technology, or equivalent professional work experience
High user level for Software Packages (Microsoft Office; Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook, etc)
Experience working across functional teams to meet Project deadlines.
Data Analysis
Ability to travel up to 25%, including internationally.
This position requires driving. A motor vehicle record that’s acceptable by company standards is required for this position.
Demonstrated experience with conducting reflection activities and leading / implementing kaizen.

Root cause analysis (FTA, DRBFM, PFMEA, etc.)
Supplier / vendor manufacturing and quality control processes
Statistical / predictive analysis tools
Drawing / blueprint interpretation experience
Proficiency with WAIS, SMS-BR, T3, TAS, TIS, Partnumber.com, TQCN, TQNet, RTS, and Product Quality Analytics applications
Proficiency with Panel 4, Toyota Remote Data access and evaluation, CAN300 data gathering and analysis
Knowledge of and ability to diagnose Toyota / Lexus / Scion Systems and vehicle control technologies
EDR/Vehicle Data Interpretation
Toyota Business Process
Vehicle Diagnostics including TechStream
ASQ Certified Auditor, Quality Engineer or greater
ASE Master Diagnostic (L1), or Master Level Certification (A1-A8)
Technical "hands-on" automotive experience (Professional or Personal)
