These positions will lead the development of externally sourced components for electrified commercial vehicles such as electric drives, power converters and power distribution modules.
Based in Lisle, Illinois, Navistar or its subsidiaries and affiliates produce International® brand commercial trucks and engines, IC Bus® brand school and commercial buses, all-makes OnCommand® Connection advanced connectivity services, and Fleetrite®, ReNEWeD® and Diamond Advantage® brand aftermarket parts.

Our eMobility Team is growing and we have some great opportunities for Senior Electrical Engineer - Electric Vehicle (EV) Components.
These positions will lead the development of externally sourced components for electrified commercial vehicles such as electric drives, power converters and power distribution modules.
These are hybrid positions can be in based in our Rochester Hills, MI, Lisle, IL or San Antonio, TX locations.
Responsibilities:- Support the development of the EV electrical architecture, high voltage system and EV sub-systems of electrified commercial vehicles.
- Author component level requirements and assure component requirements are aligned with system level requirements.
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal departments to identify gaps and risks in the design and validation of the components and work with suppliers to close gaps and achieve compliance
- Collaborate with internal departments to develop component roadmaps and to evaluate potential suppliers and “Made in house” strategies for future programs.
- Manage suppliers of assigned components to achieve timely execution of program deliverables with good quality
- Utilize engineering tools and processes to successfully develop and validate the hardware and software of the components in collaboration with suppliers and internal departments.
- Provide support during vehicle production launch.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
- At least 12 years of experience in product design/development or new technologies
- At least 2 years of experience leading new technologies or specialized technologies
OR
- Master’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
- At least 8 years of experience in product design/development or new technologies
- At least 2 years of experience leading new technologies or specialized technologies
OR
- PhD in Engineering or Engineering Technology
- At least 5 years of experience in product design/development or new technologies or specialized technologies
- At least 2 years of experience leading new technologies or specialized technologies
- Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)
- Automotive related Engineering Degree (System, Electrical, Mechanical)
- Working experience with electric vehicle, EV electronic and electrical modules preferred
- Knowledge of the electrical and mechanical design of high voltage power electronics preferred
- Working experience with relevant industry standards such as SAE J1939, J1772, ISO15118, ISO 26262, etc. preferred
- Working experience in following automotive product development process and product production launch preferred
