About the role
We’re on the lookout for an experienced and professional Senior Product Development Scientist to join our Research and Development team at head office in Lytham, Lancashire on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Head of R&D, you will play a key role in ensuring we are ahead of the game with our animal health offerings for companion and agricultural animals. You’ll be supporting the growth and evolution of our core products to ensure we remain in the market leader category. As such, product development is essential to our continued growth so your passion and resilience to the process should be what really makes you tick.
Main duties
Supporting projects from concept to launch, covering the entire product life cycle.
- Liaise with other departments across the company such as Quality, Regulatory, Operations, Marketing, Design and Sales, to ensure successful and timely completion of projects and product launch.
- Remain up to date with marketed competitor products, along with new product launches.
- Build and maintain excellent working knowledge of any new technologies and industry standards.
- Scope and lead clinical trials with customers and/or academic establishments – including contributing to trial design, analysis of results, scientific writing and general project management.
- Research the benefits and potential applications of nutraceutical and personal care ingredients as well as new packaging ideas to formulate and create innovative products.
- Assist the laboratory and production-sized trials of new formulations and ensure that the Head of R&D is kept fully aware of progress, including any problems which arise.
- Evaluate and supply feedback on raw materials to help maintain supply chains.
- Provide support to our veterinary technical advisors in answering technical enquiries as required.
- Provide support to our manufacturing team on procurement of new equipment as required.
- Follow current SOPs covering all aspects of development and analysis, where applicable.
- Routine completion of laboratory and project notebook(s), and maintenance of orderly filing system.
- Operate in accordance with Good Laboratory Practice (according to laboratory procedures) and comply with GMP guidelines (where applicable)
- Maintain correct standards of health and safety in accordance with the Tangerine Group company policy.
About You
- Min. B.Sc. in a Biology, Veterinary, Animal Health, Nutrition, Chemistry, Pharmacology or related discipline is essential with 1 years industry experience within either product development, clinical trials or research.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for continuous learning.
- Flexible working attitude.
- Able to work autonomously and as part of a wider team.
- Good IT skills – most notably working experience of MS Office.
