Location: Northampton NN4 7BW
Contract Type: FTC 12 Months
Shift pattern: Mon-Fri - 37.5hrs per week (08:30-16:30 or 09:00-17:00)

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000

NUMS contract at DHL Supply Chain:

  • The National Police Uniforms Managed Service is an outsourced contract awarded by the Metropolitan Police Force which is operated by DHL Supply Chain.
  • DHL have the responsibility of delivering and managing a fully integrated procurement and supply chain service providing the required savings, value for money, customer-focussed products and supply chain services to the Metropolitan Police Force and potentially all other police forces in Great Britain. It will act as a single point of access for the customer covering all the in-scope commodity needs: Uniforms, Work wear, Public Order Garments, Footwear and associated accessories such as pouches, belts, hand cuffs and batons.

Role Purpose:

  • To manage the development of product in accordance with the agreed technical specifications and the DHL sealing process.
  • Assures quality products and processes by establishing and enforcing quality standards; testing materials and product.
  • Establishes product quality documentation system by writing and updating quality assurance procedures.
  • Maintains product quality by enforcing quality assurance policies and procedures and government requirements
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Reporting to the Technical Manager, and to work in a collaborative manner with the Sourcing Team, and Operations and Supply Chain to achieve NUMS objectives
  • Set up and maintain The Technical Files for the management of technical documentation.
  • Co-ordinate the DHL sealing processes with Suppliers, Design and Technical Team and the customer to ensure all product is compliant with agreed specifications and document all progress and corrective actions required throughout the lifecycle of any product.
  • Manage the documentation and requests for testing or technical support with Intertek.
  • Establish and maintain effective working partnerships with supplier to ensure challenges are flagged, identified and solved efficiently and with minimal disruption
  • Guide & Coach DHL inbound goods QC team with technical updates & regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

  • Experience of Supply Chain and Logistics (desirable)
  • Solid understanding of Supply Chain and operational processes (desirable)
  • Expert knowledge of Product Development and Quality standards management (essential)
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience of managing a diverse high quality product range
  • Experience of managing suppliers in a low cost sourcing environment
  • Knowledge of garment or equipment or PPE QA process both pre and post production (essential)
  • Broad project management knowledge & procurement/commercial
  • Experience of dealing with large and diverse customer base
  • Expert knowledge of product construction and manufacturing processes (essential)
  • Experience of relevant legislative/conformity
  • Experience of working with diverse cultures
  • Degree or equivalent professional qualification
