Job Purpose

We are looking for a detail-oriented, tech-savvy Product Designer with an understanding of product design and systems design, who is equipped to collaborate across teams and translate complex problems. This role is central to meeting business needs and user experience for all R&D functions.

About R&D Digital & Tech, R&D Operations

R&D Digital & Tech is at the forefront, working hand in hand with the R&D business and applying industry leading technologies, a product-centric org structure and an agile delivery approach to deliver the change. R&D Operations addresses the business needs of the Strategy, Planning, and Operations (SP&O) group, R&D Finance, R&D governance bodies, portfolio managers and Business Development. Technology aligned to this area will cover the breadth of acquiring, managing and transforming operational data pertinent to planning and managing R&D programs. We equip R&D leaders with the essential details of upcoming project milestones, resource needs and capacity, so that trade-off decisions can be made nimbly in support of the evolving portfolio.

The Product Designer, R&D Operations role will provide you the opportunity to lead key activities to progress your career. These responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Performing user research through qualitative enquiry, quantitative data analysis and user testing within the R&D customer base

  • Developing a solid understanding of the business domain and processes through user research techniques and translating these into personas, journey maps and user stories that deliver solution design and improvements

  • Collaborating with an Agile team to size, iterate on, review, and deliver work

  • Connecting with engineers to ensure shared understanding of design feasibility, design integrity and accurate technical implementation

  • Developing an understanding of high-level technical concepts (e.g. data structures, architecture), combined with critical thinking to assess viability of solutions

  • Interpreting and creating product design documentation

  • Driving design activities to improve user interfaces through wireframing, prototyping and ideation workshops

  • Apply best practices in product design to generate engaging and accessible digital experiences

Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Experience with creating dashboards and Data Visualization and Business Intelligence tools (ex: Power BI)

  • Experience working in an IT product related industry, in the areas of IT software analysis, design or delivery (both analytical and technical)

  • Experience with Agile methodologies

  • Experience in Business Analysis / User Research and Usability

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Experience of Pharmaceuticals processes and systems

  • Strong creativity, problem solving, collaboration, communication, attention to detail and presentation skills

  • Experience creating personas, user journeys, process flows, wireframes, and/or interface mockups

  • Understanding of / experience in product design and systems design
