Brief Job Description/responsibilities:
We are looking for a Part-Time product designer with CAD furniture experience to help us expand our range of reclaimed wood products.
Autodesk Fusion 360 experience or a similar parametric modelling software (solidworks etc) is beneficial to this role, however this can be taught if needed, the crucial quality is having a great eye for design and trends
This is a 1 day a week part-time position. We're looking to fully design and model a new product every 2 weeks, which will then be passed over to our photographer and marketers to be listed on our site. Products will be nested and CNC cut from the stock material we manufacture (reclaimed solid wood panels), extra components can be bought in as needed.
Basic Duties will include:
- Designing new reclaimed wood furniture products that meet certain criteria
- Making detailed CAD models of them
- Nesting design components ready for production by CNC
Required skills/qualifications
The right candidate will:
- Be really passionate about the subject and furniture
- Share some of our values
- Be able to think outside the box
- Be able to think from both an aesthetic sensibility, and from a practical technical design stance, with good material understanding i.e of imperfections, faults and weaknesses (reclaimed wood knowledge a bonus!)
- Able to produce technical designs
- Excited by furniture, up to date with trends!
- Have a keen interest in the potential of reclaimed material, from an environmental stance, or a thrifty one, and able to see the character in secondhand material. We're open to eventually expanding into other materials to utilise novel waste streams
Work Schedule
- 8 hours per week (Mon-Friday), schedule negotiable
