Reporting to: Lead Product Designer
The role
Be part of a new era, as our talented Experience Design (XD) Team expands to meet and exceed the expectations of our millions of users.
This is your chance to impact our most engaged home-hunters – apps are where our users really get moving!
We have 2 cross-functional apps teams focusing on different areas of the consumer journey. You'll be embedded in one of those teams. You’ll collaborate closely with your Product Owner, iOS, Android, Back-End, and QA engineers. You’ll also work in close partnership with the other apps team, particularly the Product Designer. Together you’ll play a key role in improving the way people move home.
You’ll report to the Lead Product Designer for Consumer, in an immediate design team of 6. You’ll also form part of the growing XD Team of 20+ passionate, curious, and creative designers and researchers. Our multi-disciplinary team is made up of Product Design, UX Design, Service Design, UX Research, and UX Copywriting.
Key responsibilities:
Product design practice
- Work closely with the other consumer teams to develop a clear understanding of the domain and how your work impacts the wider context of customers and internal users.
- Develop and share relevant user insights to help shape product initiatives and inform solutions in partnership with User Research, UX Design, UX Copywriting, and Lead Product Designers.
- Initiate and execute appropriate user testing and gather relevant insights to support everyday product decisions.
- Produce and deliver relevant design artefacts (sketches, prototypes, assets and other content), in line with the delivery roadmap.
- Actively share the understanding of design processes and frameworks, and their contribution to a collaborative product practice, and product decisions.
Apps Team Ownership
- Support the Apps Product Owner to develop an understanding of the product vision and the commercial objectives.
- Develop a deep understanding of the underlying technology of both iOS and Android apps, including technical limitations and possibilities.
- Build a close relationship with the other Product Designer, continuously looking to improve collaboration, documentation, and ways of working between the two teams.
- Work with the Product Owner to understand the impact of solutions on the wider domain, identify product risks and adoption levers, and how to measure them.
- Drive the quality of the user experience within Apps, as represented by the short-term and long-term adoption of our solutions, features, and enhancements.
- Foster an on-going collaboration with your team, encouraging design thinking through workshops and design reviews.
- Bring everyone along on your design journey, by actively seeking feedback from the team on designs, processes, and ideas.
- Work closely with the Design System Product Designer towards growing and improving our Apps Design System, ensuring alignment with the brand guidelines.
