Product Designer (Senior)
Location: London Office (Hybrid)
The role

The Product Designer plays a central role in delivering the overall digital experience of both our consumers and customers. These are the experiences that underpin the Rightmove business.
As a collective, the Product Development team is responsible for producing the best products and features, proven by successful adoption by our consumers and customers. To do that we’ll need you to work effectively as a high performing contributor within cross functional teams. Working closely with other Product Designers, Product Owners, Lead Product Designers, Engineers, User Researchers, Business Analysts, and the wider product team, you’ll bring your specific creative intelligence and skills to help solve problems.
You’ll also be a vital part of the Product Development team itself, contributing and developing concepts and ideas that help shape our products and initiatives, with Rightmove’s strategy always at their core.
The Product Designer reports to the Lead Product Designer.
Key responsibilities
Product design practice
- Work with the Lead Product Designer, Lead UX Designer and User Researcher to develop a clear understanding of the product domain user knowledge: goals and expectations, tools and context of use
- As part of the product team, support the Product Owner to develop an understanding of the product vision, the commercial objectives, and the underlining technology
- Develop and share relevant user insights to help shape product initiatives and inform solutions in partnership with User Research, UX Design, UX Copywriting and Lead Product Designers
- Foster an on-going collaboration, encourage design thinking and the development of creative solutions with the product team through workshops and design reviews
- Work with the Product Owner to understand the impact of solutions on the wider domain, identify product risks and adoption levers and how to measure them
- Collaborate with other Product Designers and Lead Product Designers to create a modular, responsive and consistent design system across our platforms
Customer & Consumer focus
- Actively develop a deep understanding of Rightmove, our customers and consumers, and how your role supports our goals
- Ensure the actions you take have our customers and consumers at their core, consider internal and external impacts, and are supportive of our business goals
- Pro-actively contribute to initiatives that aim to improve our customer or consumer experience, both identifying your own contribution and supporting others in theirs
Design ownership
- Accountable for the delivery of design solutions that are in line with the wider product vision, design principles and the product team’s roadmap
- Accountable for the quality of the product experience within the product team as represented by the short term and long-term adoption of our solutions, features and enhancements
- Responsible for the continual development and the active sharing of user insight within the product domain
- Actively share the understanding of design processes and frameworks, and their contribution, to a collaborative product practice and product decisions
Planning & Delivery
- Initiate appropriate user testing and gather relevant insights to support everyday product decisions
- Produce and deliver relevant design artefacts (sketches, prototypes, assets and other content), in line with the delivery roadmap
- Undertake design exploration in collaboration and coordination with the team, the product goals and the roadmap
- Ensure that design activities are planned, estimated appropriately, shared and understood
