Job description

Creating a more diverse, equitable and inclusive Dojo
Dojo’s 150,000+ customers reflect the diversity of the UK High Street. Building teams with diverse backgrounds that are representative of the customer base which we serve is fundamental to creating innovative products at Dojo. Whoever you are, if you’re passionate about your work, curious, relentless and customer-obsessed, you have a place at Dojo.
We want everyone to be the best they can be throughout the recruitment process; if you require any additional adjustments please let us know.
An exciting opportunity to join the Payments Products Tribe and have a hand in building on the well established data foundations and practices in place and delivering on innovative, greenfield problems. If you’re the kind of person who loves to sit in the sweet spot of harnessing the power of data and technology, performing rigorous scientific insight and having a direct strategic impact on the product - this is the role for you.
About The Tribe
Mission: Deliver the ultimate unified payments ecosystem that enables our customers to take and understand all forms of payments.
You'll have the opportunity to help shape the evolution of payments by joining our Payments Products Tribe. In this role, you'll unravel the complexities of user behaviour, patterns, and trends to enable our product teams to craft a seamless and unified payments ecosystem. If you're driven by data and fuelled by curiosity, come be a vital part of our dedicated team that's redefining the future of financial technology.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Convert Business Needs Into Trackable Outcomes: Help teams convert business and user goals into well defined KPIs.
  • Insights & Measuring Impact: Provide insights on product performance attributing the impact for our users utilising a variety of techniques - experiments, causal inference, bespoke self-serve explores, pre-built dashboards and exploratory analysis.
  • Discover: Go deep on areas of risk or opportunity providing valuable context and helping to validate decisions within your team and across the tribe.
  • Product Data Standards: Work with analytics engineers to help build and maintain a reliable analytics code base. Ensure the product is instrumented with the ‘right’ data to analyse performance.
What a typical day looks like:
  • You will be part of a cross-functional product team (squad) partnering with PMs to develop rigorous insights to inform prioritisation and planning of the product strategy. Working closely with engineers, user researchers, designers, and other data folks.
  • Being customer-first is our primary ethos and you’ll be at the forefront of this. Bringing our customers to life through data wherever decisions are being made, whether it’s participating in product refinements, working with our marketing experts or presenting to our executive team.
  • Be the evangelist for a data-driven, test and learn approach to product development. Apply your scientific skills to identify problems, generate hypotheses, and conduct experiments and analyses to validate the hypotheses.
  • As you acquire an in-depth understanding of one or more areas of the business, you’ll act as an expert mentor improving data literacy within your product team and across the tribe. You’ll be improving performance outcomes through the use of data and technology. You’ll be raising the bar.
What you’ll bring:
  • You’re comfortable with uncertainty and supporting your team to discover and optimise the user journey through analytics and insights.
  • You have an applied understanding of descriptive and predictive analytical concepts. You’re able to implement core data-driven frameworks like customer segmentation and user personas.
  • You have a foundational understanding of running statistically rigorous experiments.
  • You care about impact and are not shy of challenging the status quo. Constantly seeking the necessary conversations to ensure that you are doing the right data analysis at the right time. You see your job as making business impact, not completing tasks.
  • You have excellent communication and facilitation skills, a proven track record of building relationships with stakeholders.
  • You’re pragmatic and know how to strike a balance between the commercial and the technical needs of a project.
Your technical experience:
  • Strong SQL - BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift.
  • Familiarity with a scripting language such as Python or R.
  • User event tracking tools like Segment, Snowplow, Amplitude, Mixpanel.
  • Git in a data environment and following CI/CD best practices.
  • Proficiency in data visualisation/BI tooling - Looker, Tableau, PowerBI.

About Dojo
We launched Dojo in 2019 to address business owners’ pain points across the UK. Since then, we’ve seen incredible growth as a scaling fintech, welcoming over 150,000 customers and growing the Dojo team to 1,000+ people across five locations. In that time, we’ve also introduced Dojo Virtual Queues & Bookings and the Dojo restaurant finder app, formerly known as WalkUp and loved by 1,000 restaurants and 750,000 diners.
Today, we work towards our mission to empower businesses to thrive in the Experience Economy by creating the tools and technology that turn transactions into meaningful relationships. For our business customers, that means fast funding, the fastest payments, smart integrations, and efficient virtual queues & bookings - all with instant insight across the board. For diners, that means getting seated at their favourite restaurants with just a couple of taps on the Dojo app. Whether it’s for busy business owners or hungry diners, every Dojo product is built to address real customer pain points by our dedicated teams in London, Bristol, Hull and Belfast.

Our values
At Dojo, we’re curious. We have an insatiable desire to learn and innovate. And we’re relentless. We persevere even when it’s easier not to. But, we’re nothing without our customers, who drive everything we do. From day one, Dojo was built on real customer pain points and every one of us is customer-obsessed.

Our way of working
Dojo has adopted a set of shared principles with the aim of increasing in-person collaboration and amplifying our ‘Customer First’ values. We encourage our employees to meet in-person over virtual meetings, and our communication is mostly asynchronous. Unlike most other businesses, we are intentionally avoiding a rules-based approach, and each team is empowered to make the arrangements that work best for their success. The answer to every scenario which tests these principles is: We trust you to use your judgement responsibly, in the best interest of our customers.
