The U.S. Bank Innovation Emerging Products & Programs Team seeks a self-starter, self-learner, curious cultural and technology sponge interested in absorbing all that is happening within and outside the bank and transforming that information into insights and ideas for new product and service offerings. Job activities will include (but not limited to):

  • Provides day to day ownership and execution of two primary US Bank Innovation Programs: InQ and Ideaplace. Role also supports the third primary innovation program: Innovator-In-Residence (IIR), as well as has key ownership of innovation program communications, badging, data collection and reporting.
  • InQ’s goal to is promote a series of speaker events and workshops to increase innovation information and inspiration while training on the latest trends in technology and other noteworthy topics. In order to reach our participation goals this role will need to be very strategic, excel in planning, promotion and bank-wide collaborations. You will need to develop a robust pipeline of speakers events and ideas while consistently confirming and promoting events at least 90 days in advance.
  • IdeaPlace is an ideation and collaboration program built around a custom-built software tool and a proven playbook of tools and practices. This role would lead the strategic and customer development efforts of the program with support from the Head of Innovation Programs. You will need to develop a strong list of business line contacts to inform, collaborate, and close for regular (annual) idea challenges and innovation pipelines. The expectation is that this program will (at a minimum) double its outcomes/participants year over year for the next two years.
  • Lead InQ Planning, coordination, and scheduling
  • Lead IdeaPlace Planning & Coordination (Platform & Crowdsourcing Emphasis)
  • Assist IIR Planning, Coordination, training and coaching/mentoring.
  • Lead All Program & Project Surveys, Data Analysis & Reporting
  • Lead Innovation Badging Program
  • Lead All Program and Innovation Community Communications Efforts
  • Performs under minimal guidance and supervision and acts with a calm, meaningful sense of urgency in all matters.
  • Works with business lines as a business development effort to “sell” the opportunity to engage with the Innovation Programs and Team at large.
  • Works with business lines to create Idea challenge campaigns that cultivate and encourage employee participation in creative idea development.
  • All Innovation Program events must be committed, confirmed, and programmed at 90 days in advance of the event date. This also includes sending invitations, promotion through traditional channels as well as new (discovered) channels and groups.
  • All Innovation Program events are listed on appropriate calendars, such as: Digital newsletter, IdeaPlace, and all possible SharePoint and internal posting sites.
  • Manage Innovation Community contact list: track, vet, review, and provide insights/reporting on a consistent basis.
  • Coordinate Innovation Community Events, Recruiting & Communications
  • Assist in Innovation Week Coordination & Communications
  • SharePoint site management for all the three primary programs: InQ, IdeaPlace, and IIR as well as additional Innovation Program initiatives and events.
  • Supports teams as a subject matter expert with idea discovery through crowdsourcing, independent research, business line discussion, customer interviews, customer journey mapping, lean startup or other methodologies;
  • Help teams structure project readout for completed initiatives summarizing learnings, next steps and recommendations.
  • Maintains current technology and business knowledge around financial services industry.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to juggle multiple goals and deadlines in the context of the big picture.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Ability to mentor, coach and effectively transfer expertise to others.
  • Facilitation, Negotiation & Problem Resolution Skills: Ability to build a strong network and relationships at executive levels with technology and solutions, customers and vendor groups.

This role is hybrid. Team members who are in a hybrid role typically spend three days a week at a U.S. Bank location, while having flexibility on their work location for the other working days.

Preferred Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
  • Typically has five to eight years of related work experience
  • Innovation project management experience
  • Community programming and development experience
  • Strong special event management experience
  • Steady, calm, and confident sense of urgency on all assigned projects, tasks and goals
  • Ability to work cross-functionally
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to learn and adapt
  • General knowledge of the bank’s business lines coupled with the ability to not think like a banker
  • Strong product development, product management, product marketing, or design skills
  • A basic appreciation for different product development methodologies, including Lean Start-up, Stage-Gate, and Agile
  • Demonstrated track record of project execution/implementation/success
  • Demonstrated research and investigative skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • You don’t need to be a programmer, but technical and computer skills could be helpful
  • Strong competitive and financial analysis skills
  • Willingness to challenge the status quo

Pay Range: $112,880.00 - $132,800.00 - $146,080.00
