Job description
We have several opportunities for Process Operators to join the friendly team at our pellet manufacturing facility in Billingham (TS23 4DU).
As a Process Operator you will have responsibility for running the plant and improving and sustaining results and standards for the equipment you own. You will do this by building your capability including focusing on breakthrough areas determined by highest levels of loss. You will use DMS such as centrelines, CILs (Clean, Inspect and Lubricate) and Defect Handling.
We have 2 shift patterns available:
- Flexi shift - a mixture of 12-hour day and night shifts 7am-7pm and every fifth week you will have 9 days off. Working an average of 33.6 hours per week
- 3 shift rotation - Monday to Friday 10pm-6am, 2pm-10pm, 6am-2pm on a weekly rotation

Process Operators are responsible for undertaking the following tasks, among others:
- Own and drive improvements on equipment within the pellet plant
- Build AM capability and qualification via the Equipment Owner Step up Card process
- Adhere to safety and quality standards and take personal responsibility for health and safety to achieve zero losses and safety incidents
- Work with the Line Structure Team to own, establish and improve CL (Centre Lines) & CIL (Clean, Inspect and Lubricate)
- As part of a team effectively manage start-ups, shutdowns, and changeovers
- Drive waste and losses to zero
- Manage energy usage to achieve optimum efficiency
- Maintain high standards of Hygiene and Housekeeping following our clean as you go policy
- Find and fix issues and defects using basic engineering skills
- Ensure key information is effectively communicated to the next shift through the Shift Daily Direction Setting (SDDS) process

Key knowledge, skills, and experience:
- Previous experience within manufacturing or the food industry is highly desirable
- Level 2 in Food Safety for Manufacturing (desirable, although bespoke training is provided)
- Hand tool training / mechanical skills are necessary as the job is very hands on so tool skills are essential
- Good standard of literacy and numeracy
- Great communication skills
- Ability to use your own initiative and prioritise workload
- A team player who is proactive, enthusiastic, approachable, and flexible in daily tasks
- Ability to use Microsoft Office in particular Outlook and Excel (basic level)
