Position Summary
An excellent opportunity has arisen to recruit a Process Operator at The Macallan Estate Distillery. This role will be part of a team of 10, involved in the production of high quality spirit. The aim is to achieve maximum yield possible and to maintain high health & safety standards, whilst working together as a team.
Job Description
Reporting to the Production Team Leader, key duties and responsibilities include:-
- To receive malt and store it securely in the appropriate bins as per work instruction.
- To assist with grinding malt to the required quality and quantity for use in mashing as per work instruction and recipe.
- To gain maximum available extract from the malt provided and ensure the wort reaches the Tunroom in optimum condition.
- To gain maximum fermentation efficiency from the malt provided and ensure this reaches the Stillhouse in optimum condition.
- To obtain maximum possible spirit of the desired quality from wash provided, as per work instruction and recipe.
- To monitor and maintain boiler.
- To achieve all results as economically as possible, ensuring energy consumption and losses are kept to a minimum.
- To ensure all areas, including plant, are kept clean, tidy and in a safe condition making sure that all defects found on instruments or plant are reported.
- To participate fully in continually improving the way we work.
- To develop team working by assisting where possible to pass on skills and knowledge
- To undertake effluent plant operator duties as required
- Flexible in approach to working an annual shift system, 6am to 2pm; 2pm to 10pm; 10pm to 6am, 0800 – 1630
Skills and Experience
You will be IT literate with strong organisational skills. Experience in a production or warehousing environment is advantageous, but not essential. Candidates should demonstrate an excellent appreciation and understanding of health & safety and good interpersonal skills are essential.
This role involves shift work, including weekends (6am to 2pm; 2pm to 10pm; 10pm to 6am, 0800 – 1630) as well as manual work so individuals should take both of these factors into consideration when applying.
